The furnace golems always fall facing the side of the leg you last damaged, so unless you were right under their groin and not sure which you hit it's easy to stand and wait for the weakspot to appear. Also, don't worry about Dryleaf Dane - not only is his storyline very much still on, he actually wanted you to do what you did. He left you a letter saying as much that you read at the end of the last episode (it's also what gave you the required gesture).

Luke, in that last note you read in the Bonny Gaol "try jumping and then secret passage" (or something like that), if you jumped to the small ledge to the right you would be on your way for a sick looking armor set. Up to you to get it of course.

This week on 'mmm, tasty, tasy lore'....Bonny Village. As you go through Bonny Village you find a shade that confirms the people there were indeed chopping up people and sticking them in jars. Some of these people were unwilling prisoners and some were 'Shamans' who were told 'For pity's sake, your place is in the jar. Nigh-sainthood itself awaits you within. For shamans like you, this is your lot. Life were you accorded for this alone'. Yeah, the people of this land were really nasty. Wonder how these Shamans felt about this...? 🤔

Since you’re enjoying the deflect + guard counter build, you should check out the Black Steel great hammer you picked up early on. It has a unique guard counter ability that does extra Holy and stance damage, great for staggering enemies. Plus it’d give you something to do with all those smithing stones, haha

TBF, Dragon Hearts are useful to those looking for dragon communion spells that let you spew out huge burst of flames. My favorite is Ekzykes's Decay for the scarlet rot build up & range. Think you have the faith for them, probs just need a few points in arcane

I love your confidence at the start that you have progressed everyone's quests as far as you can. I know it was with the caveat as far as you remember, but this DLC makes messing up quests sarcastically easy. There was one I missed right at the end because I forgot to visit someone for the umpteenth time in a hole after one fight, but before another. As far as your playthrough goes it won't matter one way or the other, but I'd been so careful so I was slightly salty!

Reminds me of trying to get the 100% ending for Final Fantasy X-2, which has an absurdly long list of things you need to do. You basically have to visit everywhere in every chapter even if you've completed everything there, talk to certain NPCs repeatedly in every chapter until you've exhausted all the dialogue, fully complete an arduous side quest involving checking CCTV footage that you can very easily mess up, and press a button to whistle back when you hear whistling at certain points in a couple of scenes.

@@Zoso14892 I unironically love the twist on the active time battle system they had in that game where it was more efficient to feelout how long certain attack animations took to playout so you could queue up a bunch of attacks at once for massive combos. I think it was a neat precursor to the type of system that ended up in Final Fantasy 15 and the 7 remakes. There are some good ideas in there but it's all packaged in lethal amounts of cringe.

@Joe90h Hahaha, I'll agree with the cringe aspect. To be fair, I struggle with most JRPG's, I've tried all single-player entries up to 15 but couldn't get into any of them. I enjoyed the turn based aspect, and the older I get, the more I miss it! It's one of the only things I'll turn into an old "back in my day" man over!

I think Ray actually was the bigger threat in that dragon fight: the dragon can only die once, Ray Sunshine always returns. Also, nice music selection with Ridley's theme, brief as it was.

I'm not brave enough to take on bosses without my mimic buddy. You know how souls games sometimes have characters or elements that feel out of place to serve as maybe a hint towards the enxt games fromsoft is making? You know like Chester in DS1 being a hint at Bloodborne etc. I get the feeling that Dryleaf Dane may be one of these. Maybe Fromsofts next game will be martial arts based. One can only hope.

51:20 It's not protection *from* Black Flame, it's using the power of Black Flame to strengthen your defense. It actually provides protection from physical damage. Also, Black Flame is a totally different thing from Ghostflame, because of Lore, and is Frost damage.
