If I could offer some perspective on Chicago/Midwest social scene in the winter. No one stays home. Things don’t go dormant in even the least during winter. If anything it ramps up. As someone who moved from the southwest to the Midwest, can confirm. No region more active and social than this one, with no seasonal break. Looking forward to your first hand account!

I grew up in Chicago, lived there into my 40s, and can confirm we were just as busy in the winter. Every weekend was busy with social events. Between birthdays, engagements, showers, weddings, christenings, etc, it was nonstop all winter and keeps going year round. If it's too cold or snowy, staying in and inviting friends over for a cozy get together was still possible and we looked forward to it as much as possible. Now I'm in south Florida and feel more confined in summer due to heavy rain or humidity. You learn to adapt to your environment and do your best to enjoy life regardless where you live. Love this version of your nomadic life, Taylor!

Chicago does not shut down in winter. I grew up in the suburbs and I can tell you we are a hardy bunch in the north central Midwest. Snow plows are out early and often and nothing shuts down. I laughed when Dallas shut down after the storm on 2/2. The roads looked like an average winter day here in Wisconsin.

I felt the exact same way when I was using the dating apps. I was 27 and I just genuinely got to a point where I knew what I was looking for and what I wasn’t. I was very upfront with the guys I went on dates with about what my goals were and what I was looking for. I figured if it was the right person for me then I wouldn’t scare them off by being honest. I lived on my own, had my own career and friends I loved and it just became fun to date. I didn’t put all this unnecessary pressure on “finding the one” as I did just meeting kind people and thinking maybe I would meet a great guy that would just feel right and work. I’m 33 now and although I didn’t meet my husband on dating apps (we met at the hospital where we both work), I did love online dating and meeting new people. I really think it helps you learn more about yourself and solidifies what you like and don’t like. I figured at the end of the day even if the guy wasn’t the right fit for me, I got out of the house, got dressed up and had a drink with a new and interesting person. It’s all about your outlook and mentality I think.

Even just building a profile makes you ask yourself questions about what you want and what you are passionate about and your values that you may have never articulated before. It helps gather your thoughts, opinions, priorities, hopes& goals so you are then in the mindset to explore these things with and about new people on a date.

The idea of dating again totally scares me to the point that I convinced myself that I’m better off being single. But I think what scares me most is finding someone I totally fall for and obtaining the same results. Hearing other ppl going through the same thing gives me a little more courage and hope tho.

Best thing I ever learned thru extensive dated- whether meeting online or in real life naturally- is that listen to a man, when they tell you something. If they ever hesitate on a relationship, you wanting one is not irrational. Distance is key. And it pays off simply to give to listen. My one friend used to say “leave at the first sign of bullshit” that also helps🤣

I met my now-fiancé on hinge in 2018 (I was 27, he was 29) and I tell every single person I know to use it if they want to get out of the tinder cycle!! Also, I made a game for myself when I was getting burnt out on dating, and started asking EVERY first date who their favorite muppet is. You’d be surprised how much you can learn about someone if they’re an Animal vs a Kermit fan (better than a horoscope 😂). Wishing you all the luck and good vibes in the dating world!

Chicagoan here! I love my city but I also definitely get seasonal depression and I’m not overall as happy here in the winter. It definitely is the worst part of living here but the summers and falls are just so perfect. There’s still stuff to do in the winter, and definitely think that living here I can handle the cold better than non midwesterners, but personally I still hate freezing all of the time. I feel like you've reached an emotionally mature time in your life, which also tends to translate into those you're dating. You've become confident in yourself and what you need which is amazing! I tell my girls that dating is more about learning what you DON'T want, than it is what you DO want ❤. Also, I live in the Houston area, and I've been to that AOA store. They've been advertising a new one on my side of town (Houston proper is 50 miles wide lol), but the 'rona seemed to push that back... and I'm sad about it lol.

Don't give up hope on the dating apps! I met my bf on tinder 4 years ago. I was only on it because I was moving from Chicago to VA in a few weeks and thought it was "less serious" than bumble. I was basically on there to just waste time but after great conversations, I finally met up with him and the rest is history. We did long distance for a year, I moved back from VA after my hospital residency, and we bought a house 2 years ago. People are always surprised to hear how we met! One of my best friends married her bumble bee! Hope you find that assuring. Knowing what you're looking for will make things much lighter emotionally, but also, like you've noticed- you get to meet and appreciate a bunch of great humans along the way! It takes real maturity to see the good in people when it doesn't benefit you personally. Love your channel, girl!

Totally agree about your views on dating! I’m in my early 30s and I feel like there’s a whole new level of maturity (largely because I’m secure in my myself and I know what I want). I think dating in pandemic times was also easier in a sense. Having to discuss certain things like views on vaccination, dating other people, etc. has forced people to have hard conversations sooner and streamlined the process.

Lol My first date with my current partner was when I was 18 (currently in my 30s) I was like “If you want kids, I’m not for you.” 😂 my worst nightmare was to end up stuck on someone that ended up wanting kids. So that was always one of the first things I brought up.

It takes A LOT to pull me away from Purito but I must say, this Makeup Forever is crazy natural looking. It is truly undetectable. I had a hard time finding a color match (even the light ones pull yellow IMO) but I did & it was worth it.

love this video! I have lived in austin my whole life and it can be easy to slip into being negative about lots of people moving here, but it’s refreshing and exciting to see the city through the eyes of someone who just moved here!

I’m so sad they discontinued ultra hd. This one I didn’t like. Looked heavy and dry to me. It seemed like a completely different foundation not just an upgrade. I bought 10 bottles of ultra hd before it was gone lol 😂

Hey girl. Florida native here. Miami Beach isnt so much for relaxing as it is for partying lol. It’s a lot of fun! But relaxing isn’t the word if that’s what you’re looking for. You want the gulf coast for that. The further southwest you go in Florida, the older & richer it gets. St Pete area is a good mix of younger people, lots of state parks, relaxing beaches & friendly. You might also like Fort Myers or Fort Lauderdale. Can’t speak so much for Destin but that’s more panhandle / Florida southern. It is true the further north you go in Florida, the closer to the south you get. Hope this helps & happy travels!😊

Been living next to Chicago my whole life and unless its negative 50 degrees the city most certainly does NOT shut down. Theres ALWAYS something going on in winter, you just have to invest in thermals and quality winter coat and boots! ( especially if you plan on taking the cta , pace or metra to places) And omg you haven't seen arrested development?? Its amazing. I watched when it first aired on TV and then rewatched when it went to streaming !

I grew up in Chicago and I absolutely love the people and the city.. if I could physically move the city even slightly further south I’d never leave.. but the weather really ruined it for me. You’re right, over half of the year it’s freezing and nobody wants to go anywhere because of it. I live in Miami now, but I’m moving to Austin in June and I can’t wait - the people are so similar to Chicago people and incredibly nice. It really is wild to think how living in a city with kind people makes all the difference in the world.. it’s not that people in Miami are mean.. but it’s definitely not the same vibe. Anyway, have watched you for years - love the vids - let’s grab a drink if we both end up in Austin. ;) Xx

I agree with others about Chicago. I've been here for 16 years. But May will be a great time to visit! Spring and summer would be a great time to come to make friends, so the festivals, beaches etc and it'll make the winter more bearable. I think Chicago would be great for you: spectacular food, multiple world renowned medical systems, always something to do, etc.

Taylor, I don’t know if you read your comments but I just wanted to offer this: the idea that “good guys” are already in relationships in their 30s is something I heard in the 1980s, when GenX was coming up and we knew we were not marrying in our 20s. I assure you that it’s not about the age at which you meet your person. It’s about getting clear about who you are and what you can bring to a relationship. We usually focus on what the other person needs to bring. But once we really know ourselves (usually in our 30s!), we tend to have a better sense of who we allow into our lives. (And, I agree, Untamed was an excellent read!) Thanks for the great nomadic content!

Yes Destin was so cool ! We actually went there to escape the back to back hurricanes in 2004 , they were headed right towards us so we went north until we hit Destin. I loved the water on the west coast of Florida, it was just really pretty, and so much fun. Go girl!

Having a stronger sense of self (what is REALLY important to you and having focus towards those objectives) helps understand how others can compliment your goals. When you aren’t really sure what you are looking for its easy to think you’ve found what you’re looking for when you haven’t. One of the best things I can recommend is to REALLY be okay with yourself before adding anyone else to your most intimate intentions.

In terms of traveling to Destin, check out the 30A and seaside areas. They are gorgeous (!!!) and less commercialized and crowded… but tons of local restaurants and cute shops. The beaches are stunning on the gulf. White sand and emerald waters! It’s called the emerald coast.

Florida recommendation for vacation if you want QUIET and relaxed, Carrabelle Florida is both of those. My inlaws live in Carrabelle and it's absolutely beautiful. You're about an hour away from several larger cities, but you have beautiful untouched beaches with no high rises. It's called "The Forgotten Coast". For Chicago, the city doesn't sleep in the winter. If anything, it's more active. I live an hour out of the city in the "country". Anywhere Bollingbrook or south is really nice, and a bit quieter than Chicago.

Austin sounds like such an uplifting place to be in. I went on a family vacation to San Antonio years ago and it was so much fun! I am so happy that you are enjoying your time in Austin and are meeting good people. I would love to see a video on the shop Miss A store and see some of Houston. Your makeup looks beautiful! I love your outfit and accessories too! That top is such a pretty color, very unique. I love those shows, Married at First and Love is Blind. I didn't know there was a season 2 of Love is Blind. I have to watch that ASAP. LOL! Your videos are so genuine and honest. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your mini trip to Houston!

Hey Taylor! I've lived next door to Destin in Fort Walton Beach for the past 10 years. Destin is beautiful and has amazing beaches. But the traffic is pretty bad and it's a spring break destination so lots of young people drinking and partying. Try to find a condo on the Gulf side so you see the beautiful water from your room and have beach access. I also have many friends in the service industry out there so I can recommend several restaurants if you need them!
