For the mag release on the 43X with the S15 mags, wrap the mags in 2 layers of blue painters tape, put the mag in the gun, and take a blow dryer on hot for about 5 minutes, then take the tape off and the mags will drop easily

I’ve had both. I currently have a 920P that I have chosen for my “slim” edc. The reason I went with it over Glock 43 or 43x is that I don’t have comfort issues concealing a Glock 19, I do print wearing a t shirt. With the 920p I don’t print at all. The 43x grip is basically a 19 length so it’s still printing on the last bit of the grip. I love Glock but sticking with plastic mags on their slim lines really gave everyone else a leg up and Glock still sold TONS of their slim guns. Both are pretty good and the p920p trigger that I ended up with isn’t that bad. It definitely is a step down from Walther but it’s still good enough. Best thing I can say is that these days there’s way more good guns than bad. It wasn’t always that way.

When I first got my DR920 the trigger felt gritty. I am past the break in period and although it isn't any lighter or shorter, it feels much better and smoother. If you haven't gotten to that point yet, you probably will with more rounds through it. When I first got the gun I thought I wanted a new trigger but I am fine with it now.

With my wife having a Glock 42 and previously having a 43, 43x and 43x MOS (not all at the same time) the biggest offender with Glock’s trigger is that they use a full size (like from a 19) striker spring. There’s only so much room in there so when you pull the trigger it gets to a point where it can’t really compress the spring much more before the trigger breaks, thus making it very heavy. I changed the striker springs to shorter ones and man what an improvement. Might be worth popping the striker plate off and seeing what’s in there. If it’s a Glock spring and not proprietary, put a shorter on in from Wolf.

I have both the CR920 and the 43x. I love the fact that the CR920 is basically a 43 with metal mags. Being able to put the small mag in and have 11 rounds in an extremely tiny and comfortable pistol is amazing. Even with the extended mag it prints less than a 43x. I don't like the trigger at all. It has too much squishiness after the wall, but after a couple of mags and a lot of dry firing I am still extremely accurate with the pistol. I can shoot a head sized piece of steel at 50 yards with irons even with the shit trigger. I also like that I can put in 43x mags and they work as well, since I have a bunch. The PSA micro dagger 15rd mags also fit in the cr920, a little weirdly but I have shot it and they do work. For some reason the s15 mag did not work in the cr920, mine at least. As for the 43x, it has become my designated truck gun. I bought the s15 5rd extension which means that whenever I'm in my truck I have 21 rounds in my 43x. 43x is overall a great pistol. Also the slides are completely interchangeable which is nice. When I carry I carry the cr920 with the flush mag and normally either the 13rd mag or the PSA 15rd mag. But overall the cr920 having 11 rounds in an incredibly small format that even I can wear (6" 155lbs) without printing is amazing. I forget I'm even wearing it sometimes it can be so comfortable.

I love my CR920, but I did put a JG Trigger in it (it's good, but still not as good as a JG on a 43X for some reason--of course, for the price, you can just put in an Agency or Overwatch trigger and a fitted Ghost connector for like 40% of the cost, and get 80% of the benefit). I also have a 43X, but the CR920 just points more naturally for me, and seems to shoot softer--I assume it's that the thicker grip has more surface area to absorb the recoil. I carry the CR920 with an EPS Carry (and sometimes an LCP MAX ELITE with mcarbo springs and galloway trigger), but the 43X is more for HD. NOTE: I got my CR920 (same as yours for $619+20 shipping+15 FFL = $664) and my 43X MOS ($434). But I've spent a lot to fix them up.

I'm sure you can grab a Night Fision Orange sight for the CR, and front sights are super easy to switch out. I DO want to know if you run into a "slide-lock-open" issue. I haven't, but several YTers I've seen, including one I know, have had it happen so much they got rid of their CRs (and it doesn't make sense because it doesn't happen without any other gun).

Basically, when I pull a CR920 up with my eyes closed, when I open them, the dot is on target. But when I pull other guns up, I don’t always see the dot-and sometimes have to shift my wrist up or down. I know I could work with that one gun over and over and fix it. I think it just fits my weird hands better (large palms and stubby fingers). I spent a year putting a G43X against a P365X-both had optics and backup sights. They were so close, I went with the smaller 365X. However, I then got a CR920 to try, and it beat the 365X from the very first range visit. I can’t explain it. For example, I do a drill where I draw and shoot “through the backplate” at 5Y, and the CR put all rounds in 3.5-4” group with .20 splits. Other guns shot at that cadence will open up to 5-7”. Who knows.

I've only changed out sights on any of my guns (i.e., Glocks stock plastic to night sights). If you're into competition, customize your gun until you're happy with it. For a carry gun for self defense, I'd leave it stock except for sight (or optic). My thinking is any modifications will give a prosecutor or an attorney of the person you defended yourself against fuel that you're looking for a fight. I would venture to say many lawyers and potential jurists are not gun knowledgeable; so modifications have a negative impression if you find yourself in that situation of legally having to defend yourself in court (whether criminally or civilly). That goes for color schemes, or "Punisher" type engravings on your back plate, slide, mag base plate, holster, etc. Just my 2 cents.

Looking from outside in it appears that Shadow systems is the new kids with issues warranty is good or bad from the comments. I would say over the Glock is better with a few mods youre good to keep youre reliability. Shadow Systems may look great with a lots of features, but may run into issues like with SIGs beat testing on the consumer as well as over hyping the marketing. The hest one is the one that meets your needs.

I think that this was a bit of an unfair comparison, as the Glock had 1000 rounds through it, and the Shadow Systems was still in its break in period (I'm assuming). Perhaps the Shadow Systems may have handled differently if it had more rounds through it at the time of the review. Just my $0.02. I do; however, like that you mentioned that modifying a gun takes you further away from reliability, which is very true. Your point on needing to mod a gun straight away vs having a decent gun out of the box was spot on. Nice job.

I’ve sort of adopted the following rule: if you buy a Glock, leave it stick. Any other Glock clone, go ahead and mess with it. Not being able to eject mags from the 43x, the wobbly mag well, I wouldn’t trust that configuration to carry. My carry has to primarily function, secondarily, shoot nicely.

They don't put it under the trigger guard because it will irritate/rub your index finger on your support hand, and the middle finger of your shooting hand. Really counter intuitive to have an undercut on a polymer frame pistol just to add stippling in the same place. You avoid the "Glock Knuckle" with the undercut, but then you rub the shit out of your fingers from the grippy texture. FYI great video. Just found your channel.

Haha fair point. I’ve got a callous there and dialed in the depth that I’ve stippled so it’s not aggressive but just aids. It’s probably good they don’t include texture their from factory so that it’s more friendly towards those who’ve got more sensitive skin don’t
