And Rouge isn't even convinced that this shadow is the same one from SA2 and not ether the real one Maria Launched 50 years ago or a Clone Eggman made (Which Omega suggested as a possibility in the Japanese end of Sonic Heroes story)

One weird thing about this game is Shadow has amnesia since SA2 and doesn’t know who he is and that’s driving the whole plot. But all the other characters who were in SA2 know exactly who he was and could easily just tell him but are content just watching him have this existential crisis right in front of them while they go on their merry adventure. Funnily enough, some of the hilariously edgy lines weren't in or altered from the original Japanese script, I kid you not. For example, Shadow says "Where's the fourth Chaos Emerald?" instead of "Where's that damn FOURTH Chaos Emerald?" Also, rather than saying "This is like taking candy from a baby" he instead calls Sonic and Tails fools for exposing the emerald to him. Regardless, I can't help but love the dumb edgier lines in the English version, they never fail to put a smile on my face

@@ElainaMaruyama His name has been Dr. Eggman since Sonic 1, but the weirdo American canon changed it among many, many other things about Sonic in the 90s for really dumb reasons. But the Japanese canon is the real one and always has been, so when SA1 was made with spoken dialogue, Sonic Team finally got the chance to shut down the American canon in the games and just called him his real name in English for once so it was consistent and their stories and characters couldn't be altered anymore. So that scene where they use Eggman as an insult in SA1 is only in the dub as to not confuse English audiences with the transition, in Japanese it doesn't happen because they've always known him as Eggman, and events in the games contradict it being a recent nickname so it's essentially not canon. Eggman is obviously canonically a name Eggman calls himself willingly and is proud of it, he names all his robots and machines after it since the classics, he even has a door in his Final Egg base that opens when you spell out the word "EGGMAN" in big letters, if it was an insult why would he put it there lol. Only in SA2 did the Robotnik name become legitimately canon as an acknowledgement by Sonic Team to the western attachment to that name. They made it his canon family name, but his chosen moniker is Dr. Eggman and he goes by that exclusively and always has as far as the games are concerned.

I think everyone should come to realization and acknowledge how much sin (wrongdoing) they've done towards God, but suicide is the dumbest thing to do, if anything, your just throwing yourself into Hell. What I like about this game's story is how campy and overdramatic it is, from the movements to the goofy dialogue to the fact that Shadow is having a million different mental breakdowns at once while Sonic's over in the corner doing air guitar or some shit. Not really, this Shadow doesn't remember anything, he's not Shadow, to put it in some way, he's just an empty shell, in the middle of a war, in which he doesn't know who to support, at the end of the game the guy matures and develops much, as a character, he becomes a better Shadow, whose personality, is seen perfectly in Sonic 2006, more focused, more serious, but kind and respectful, with others, the truth is the growth and evolution of his character during, Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Heroes, Shadow the hedgehog, Sonic Battle and Sonic 2006, is perfectly carried, you can feel, how his person changes for the better.

Ironically, the scene at 1:13 is the intro cutscene for a level its only really possible to reach if you've either completed the hero mission on every level since ethe first level, or completed the first level as neutral and the following 2 as hero. Either way you've had to do a bunch of missions as a hero and are now on the "full hero" path, yet you have this hilarious cut scene depicting Shadow as a Saturday morning cartoon moustache twirling villain who steals candy from babies.

The absolute funniest part of the "taking candy from a baby" line is that you get it by going through the hero route and then taking an evil route right near the end. Which has Shadow being a morally good character fighting to help the world, just to suddenly give that line when he finds the Chaos Emerald onboard their ship. Lol

But to be entirely fair here a lot of the seeming shift in Shadow's game is down to the translation team decided to increase the edge level of the game by a lot. Like there added to many damns and similar changes that Shadow ends up way edgier than intended.

I have been getting back into Sonic and SA2 was a game I loved as a kid, and I only have played the English dub. So learning about how lines had be changed and the meaning behind them was a lot. I just can't imagine the original creator for Shadow making him the edge lord he is in this game.
