So the main story actually is partially co-op. Player 2 can control any of the ally characters that don't fly (Doom's Eye, Charmy, and Eggman.) Yes, that includes Maria, who is literally useful only to slap switches, dynamite, and wooden boxes.

I like this game a lot, tbh. In my top 5 favorite sonic games. Also, crush40 music is great, and I always liked it (it's not just for nostalgia my guys). edit: I'd like to see the 2p mode edit2: tbh, I feel like they should bring back the branching story system, but make it a bit better, for future sonic games. That would've been cool for Sonic Forces, to have a possible ending where you lose, and different variants of winning as the OC (siding with eggman or sonic, etc). edit3: also, this game could've been a lot better had they perfected it. there's a lot of flaws they could've fixed, and the way they made the branching stories is actually pretty cool. i'd rather wait extra long for a great game than wait less time for a decent one. also i'm making way too many edits at this point i'm gonna stop
