My memory is a bit hazy on this game, but I give them props on the fact they had several different cutscenes for each path you chose: good, neutral, or evil. The choices you made in this game mattered way more than the choices you make in any Telltale game of the modern era.

Okay, as an actual apologist for this game, (beat every stage and still enjoy it to this day) maybe the PS2 version isn't as good as the Gamecube one. The loading was NEVER this bad on Gamecube. But the reason Grant was having such a hard time moving and attacking was because he wasn't using the homing attack. You only ever want to use most guns when standing still, hitting a target that you can't jump to, worms and giants, or on bosses. Everything else is just homing attack twice, land, repeat. Also, don't fuck with the camera. The default camera is the best camera, moving it just makes it useless. The reason Shadow's character isn't what it was before, aside from the amnesia, is because the ending determines what's going on with him, Lani. The cutscenes only change based on what stage ending you got. The number of enemies beaten means nothing unless you beat all of them and that's the ending to the stage. Also, you have to kill at least one enemy in every stage, if I'm remembering right. Yeah, with that worm death, you can only use two homing attacks per enemy without landing or switching to another target.

+DarkwolfX37 you don't have to land to use the homing attack more than twice. in Final Haunt, Black Comet and The Last Way there are Black Arms birds with relatively meaty health bars that you have to go through in a homing attack chain, and if you actually want to kill them all then you can do it twice, stop for a second and then continue the onslaught.

They're being harsh as usual on the game, but I admit I put tons of hours and 100%'d the game on the Gamecube. Their complaints are largely their own fault, the controls are a bit tricky at first ( On the GC it was fine for me ) but the camera always was poor... which is common for those games anyway. And let's be honest, no matter how bad they think this game is most people would rather play this 50x over than play some of the *other* sonic games they've crapped out recently.

Heroes and Shadow were designed as Gamecube titles first and foremost, then ported over to PS2 and Xbox, which led to those versions having multiple areas of inferiority.

The Xbox versions of these Sonic games were largely superior to the others. With other Sonic Team/Sega titles, the Gamecube and Xbox versions were on par. The PS2 versions were vastly inferior, due to Sonic Team being greatly unfamiliar with the system's architecture. This led to several PS2 Sonic ports either being inferior or in the extreme cases of Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic Mega Collection and Sonic Heroes, completely broken. Sonic Heroes is best on Xbox, not only because it maintains a higher framerate, but the Xbox version is running at 720p. Shadow the Hedgehog is pretty much on par between the Gamecube and Xbox. Sonic Riders is pretty similar between all three but has the worst graphical quality and lowest framerate on the PS2.

To be fair Black Doom is later shown to have weird time powers and shows Shadow his past self running through the Ark with Maria. Although it would have made more sense if he made a comment about Gerald Robotnik messing with Shadow before the neutral cutscene.

Us as the player know that there’s a connection between Shadow and the black aliens, otherwise there'd be no point in making them the enemies in a shadow the hedgehog videogame. But, Shadow himself does not know that they know what happened 50 years ago, aboard the ark. He was even surprised Black Doom was able to take him to that exact time period, despite him already being shown that Black Doom has the ability to manipulate space.

For all we know, Shadow never left that forest. God the storytelling in Shadow 05 is a mess...

Kinda, the Biolizard is the original prototype of Project Shadow and was somewhat successful before it grew to an unmanageable size and became far too dangerous so they sealed it away in the depths of the Ark. Gerald based it off the Perfect Chaos mural and after sealing it away he decided to start over and try a different approach, basing his next model off the Super Sonic mural. This likely resulted in something that looks very similar to the Shadow Androids (yellow stripes) and is the reason why Shadow's aura is yellow instead of red. In this state Shadow's body was too physically weak to handle the amount of Chaos energy he had and so still wasn't viable. Gerald attempted to limit his power by inventing the Inhibitor Rings but it was only so successful until Black Doom came along and offered his DNA in exchange for the emeralds in 50 years when the Black Comet makes its next closest approach. Gerald knew that he would probably be dead by then so interested the duty to Shadow and accepted the exchange. He then added the DNA to Shadow, giving him the natural strength and durability of the Black Arms and making his stripes red as a side effect, finally allowing him to handle his own strength and resorting in the Shadow we know today. That's my theory at least.

Few things for you guys if you ever read this. With a second controller you can control any combative follower, so anyone but Eggman and Doom's eye. You stay on the same screen. You can choose your follwer by opening up the pause menu and selecting your objective. This changes voice lines too, they wrote tons of lines for each person, even Shadow talking to himself. This game has TONS of completion bonuses. Every level has a secret door which can contain anything from a quick path for future runs, an epic gun, or a ride ( Usually with a gun on it ) When either of your meters fill up you gain unlimited ammo and cannot die by normal means, and it continues to add to it as you destroy things mid usage of them. Chaos Control is a speedrunners best friend, if you want to run through a level with your objective being "Get to the end" Destroy as many eviiiiilllll things as you can and just abuse it.

You have to play the game 10 times from all the routes(which requires at least 2 revisits on all the levels with westopolis getting 10 visits. You're forced to start at Westopolis for any given route.), mostly pointless vehicles, unsatisfying unarmed combat(with a HEAVY focus on gun combat), badly fragmented story, level design can be a mess, 2 30 minute long levels, many bleak and muddy enviroments(not many colorful levels), Allies of one Alignment chewing you out for fighting mooks of the same alignment on a mandatory sequence, and none of the endings literally having any meaning when there's a "last story" segment(meaning playing through every single route).

That's an RPG and comes with the territory. This platformer has you playing the same exact levels twice each route type and there are 10 different routes. It wouldn't be so bad if you can just pick one and worry about another route when you feel like it, but you have to see the same set of levels twice for the good and bad version of that route(and there are 5 routes) and reaching the true ending requires going through all of the same levels twice with westopolis getting 10 revisits. If you don't want to deal with that shit like one of the two 30 minute levels(no joke. it takes that long to beat these two specific levels regardless of mission), you have to play a level of a near by route, a 3rd and/or 4th time. Doesn't help the story wasn't implemented that well.

It's not. People just like to think anything that's not a 2D Sonic game is horrible. I enjoyed the game back when it came out and I play the game today, and it's pretty solid. Besides, what Sonic game can you KILL the President?! It's freaking insane but fun as hell to act like a hellion of a hedgehog and shoot down the plane of the goddamn President of the United States... That aside, even if the concept of Sonic having a gun is weird, this ISN'T Sonic being the main character holding the gun and wrecking human life (or saving it if that's the way you choose to follow in the story). People(fans) like to blow everything out of proportion. Never mind the fact that the stages are actually well-designed (save for motherfucking Cosmic Fall...), never mind the fact that the weapons are a great for wiping out stronger enemies and are much welcome in dark missions, never mind the fact that this game has some neat Easter eggs, never mind the fact that Shadow controls LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER THAN ANYONE AND ESPECIALLY KNUCKLES IN SONIC HEROES, never mind that this game features the longest and best homing attack in any Sonic game and the auto-lock makes the thing an all-purpose maneuver which can help skip dicey jumps and seemingly impossible paths as well, turning them into shortcuts, and never mind the incredible soundtrack--the game is supposedly terrible to everyone because of swearing, guns and their inability to properly use a control stick to guide Shadow down a freaking straight line. The hate for the game borders on fridge logic since some people believe Shadow is worse than Sonic 06....a game that is quite UNPLAYABLE. I would like to see someone actually talk about real problems with Shadow the Hedgehog, like a few graphical hiccups in the Digital stages, the very pitiful ammo you are given on some weapons and ALL of the Shadow Box weapons, the literal maze that is The Doom and last but certainly not least, the fact that all of the bosses are truly pitiful. Egg Breaker in Iron Jungle takes no more than 10 seconds. You won't even get an A-rank for taking more than 50 seconds. There is a flaw here and there, but shadow the Hedgehog was and is hell of a lot of fun and solidly playable. I dare anyone to pick up Sonic 06 and make it through without some sort of bullshit happening.

Not sure if you guys figured this out already in future episodes but no, killing enemies does not do anything for sending your alignment into other levels, completing the objectives are. While some of them are kill all the enemies of the other alignment (like the first level) there can be others like with that second level and activating all those 5 orbs.

I do want to preface this with the fact that Shadow remains my favourite SEGA character, and I did enjoy this game. That being said, I do have to agree that quite a few balls were dropped in the production of this game (many of which can be found in the video for it at Did You Know Gaming). The worst one, in my opinion, was the disjointedness of some of the path choices. Some of them were quite non-sequitur. I don't know if TFS is going to read this comment, but I do want to mention that I found the best path to what I consider the "True End" (as opposed to what Sonic Team said), is to finish the first level Neutral, the second level Evil, then go Good for the rest of the game. But that's just my opinion.

Since they'll never find out on there own,If they have a second controller plugged in,they can play as the CPU characters (like Sonic 2).The only characters you can't control are the flying ones (Charmy,Room's eye,and Eggman's monitor).You characters can do a homing attack,and a ground attack.Also,Dan Green voices Knuckles,and Sean Schlemmel voices Black Doom

Probably should've gotten the gamecube version since it is the better version, but I guess it wouldn't matter that much. Despite the hate it got, I played this game alot when it came out. It's just one of those situations where you just play of what you got. If anyone knows what I mean. pro tip: if you have the hero mission equipped if you have a second controller plugged in you can control the AI hero with it! although you should note that there is no camera control for P2 so you can just run out of the screen a lot but if shadow gets too far away P2 will teleport to him. also specific heroes do not work with eggman for instance, although it does work for about 90 something percent of the heroes

I can already see the end coming. They only do the neutral path for every mission, because it's easy, and then at the end they complain about not getting a Super Shadow final boss, and when they find out they have to get every ending (every ENDING, you don't need to do every path to get to the endings, thankfully), they decide to give up, rather than try paying attention to what the guys who follow you constantly saying "Do this" are telling you to do.

this really should be played by Vegeta. I had this on Gamecube, never really experienced any controller issues. Eggman didn't make Shadow. That was covered in Sonic Adventure 2. He's only faster than Sonic when using Chaos Control. That's why he has the rocket shoes. Shadow doesn't hate Sonic completely. They worked together by the end of Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes. Humans can't die cuz of the game rating, they get back up if you restore their health. The soldier giving the briefing at the 12:00 mark is one of those generic 4Kids voice actors, which explains the poor acting lol. This was the first game to replace the voice cast from the previous games (Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, Sonic Heroes) with the voice cast of Sonic X. That was a big complaint at the time, since many fans preferred the previous voice actors over the Sonic X voice actors. The change was made partly because the previous Eggman voice actored died, so they figured if they're going to replace him with the 4Kids actor, they might as well replace everyone for consistency. Shadow has two chaos emeralds cuz he got the green one at the beginning of the first level at the 6:09 mark and got the blue one at the end of the first level. If you just race to the end of the level, you remained neutral. There are tasks for each level, in the first it's to defeat a certain number of aliens to be good, or to defeat a certain number of G.U.N. soldiers to be evil. Spoiler: Doom's Eye is part of his true form. Also, those ruins were built by the Black Arms (the aliens). It's really a fleet of ships and those green things reactive them.

The path you take is determined by the mission you do. Following Doom or Eggman (once you get to him) will follow the evil path, helping Sonic and friends will take the good path, and just running to the end of the level is usually the neutral mission.
