Ordinarily, I'd say they were making this game harder than it is, but then I remembered that I bought the strategy guide the same day I got the game. Lol. Though the fact that they are ignoring the game's objectives is kind of making it harder than it is. Like some levels don't include goal posts.

Actually, Eggman was always called "Eggman" in Japan. "Ivo Robotnik" was a name given to him when localizing the game, since they thought nobody would take a villain named "Eggman" seriously back when Eggman was SUPPOSED to be taken seriously (since they've pretty much turned him into a comically inept villain in recent additions). But when Sonic Adventure 1 came around, they just decided "Screw it", and made Eggman his name for all games from Sonic Adventure 1 onward.

6:35 In SA2 you don't drop all your rings at once. Once you're above like 20 rings, you're limited in how many you can drop at once to 20. So they should have been aware unless they never got more than 20. The robotic characters also had healthbars in that game. They'd heal when you picked rings back up gradually going back up to their max instead of immediately.

the thing i liked about SA2 was that all these extra missions were selectable. the level was designed for you to get from point A to point B in as little time as possible. but you had the OPTION of choosing separate missions that involved a lot of treasure hunting and platforming. this game just mashes like 4 missions into a level at the same time and makes for a constantly interrupted experience.

hey you guys should try to keep in mind how the acceleration works in the game, its wonky as all hell, normally the longer you hold forward makes you go more and more fast, but even when in mid air, holding forward while in the air still builds your ground acceleration, so if youre holding forward for like 4 seconds before landing, youll instantly move at max speed when you touch the ground, so its something to be careful about if you dont wanna rocket off a cliff the second you land

Interestingly, the President was actually voiced by Jaleel White. They already had Jason Griffith contracted as Sonic so they couldn't let him reprise that role but they wanted to give him a li'l nod so they were like "Hey, how's your generic old white dude voice?" Turns out, it's not bad, huh?

I know it's dumb to complain about CONTINUITY ERRORS in a Sonic Game, but for as much as this game loves to make references to Sonic Adventure 2's plot (in fact, sucking it off quite enthusiastically) you think they'd remember that Eggman blew Prison Island the fuck up in that game. I wish they would do good or evil routes. The neutral route is literally the most boring (And debatably most confusing storywise in the game). The end goal route is (to my knoweldge) always neutral. You can select what route to aim for in the start menu and see the requirements in the top right corner of the screen. Also check points can teleport you to any other checkpoint youve hit.

Regarding the name Eggman: In Japanese, his name has always been Eggman, but the English localization team decided to call him Robotnik instead. So for the English canon, Sonic did call him Eggman as an insult and as Grant had speculated basically took ownership of it.
