You do great commentary and I love to see playthroughs of older stuff like this

Pretty sure I've bought this up before, but the first FromSoft game I played was Eternal Ring which I still play from time to time. You can see the beginning of the Souls like combat in that. ie: lure enemy into attacking, dodge, attack, repeat.

I had the first kings field on ps1 back in the mid 90s but I was too creeped out to play it for more than an hour as a kid 😂

I also have Evergrace by FromSoft, another "I'll get around to finishing it one day" game. Apparently the bonus dungeon in that, called "Shadow Tower", was actually named after the game you're playing. :)

Love these style videos, thanks for all the time you put into them.

Michael, when you shook your head at the sound of the motorcycle passing I knew you feel the exact same way about them that I do. These guys' complete disregard of other people's peace and quiet is disturbing. Maybe they think everyone yearns for the noise their smelly machines make, well, I know I don't. Anyway, I played a little bit of the first game when I had my phase for playing King's Field and all the similar games. I love the atmosphere, for me it's topped only by Arx Fatalis. Nothing else comes even close.

Have you ever played The Inquisitor III for GZDoom by Shadowman and BigMemka? It's a solid action RPG with a creepy ambience built from reused assets from various 90's classics but it's built so well you'd think it's custom made. It's like Hexen, Daggerfall, Underworld, Blood, Diablo, etc. had a baby. At least 20 hours of gameplay IIRC. Seems like something that's right down your alley

I hadn't heard of this but it looks great I'm going to have to get to it some time!

I have one of the PS2 King's Field games, but I can't remember which. I'm in the middle of moving, so it's boxed up and at the new place at the moment. I remember trying it and finding it so painfully slow, particualry the turning speed, that I gave up on it. I'll have to try and find a way to show you my collection when I've moved and have it all set up, I have a bunch of stuff in it that I'm sure you'd like. :)

Ok, sent you a couple of pics. Hope they didn't end up in your spam folder. :)

43:43 RE elden ring. Let’s see what the DLC does with the world tempo. 1:32:38 I think ER is easiest of all the soulsbourne games. Summons + open world makes it easier. I don’t agree levelling doesn’t help with end bosses. My two pay through were pure strength. No magic. My second play was actually a pure tank. I didnt depend on dodge I just traded blows. I consider Sekiro the hardest of the family because of what you said about ER. It’s more action than rpg which I disliked. 2:03:47 agree on fashion. I think it needs a transmog system as well.

I need to stop watching your videos. You are costing me money 😅 🤑… really enjoying this trip nonetheless. *Quick Tip* - you can change the controller scheme to match modern setups. Schema 4 I believe. 57:54 I am not a fan of FR. I would even prefer vanilla Greyhawk. 1:49:31 do you ever get a light? 2:37:01 it’s fun seeing the foundations of Dark Souls in these games. Little hints here and there. Retrospective at some point?

I've thought of doing a big retrospective on the King's Field series + Shadow tower but I think I'm just going to leave it with my review of KF4

Yeahh....not covering the UI up with your camera is a much better way to show the game. Do we really need to watch you play the game, if the game is what you're highlighting?
