It's a really good way of retconning that fight so that both Shadow and Sonic can win without causing issues for the original Gens story

This scene paints a pretty clear picture of why Shadow has been presented as kind of disliking Sonic as a person in things like the recent Tails Tubes and the like. Sonic basically rolls up on him and says: "Give me your Chaos Emerald." Shadow instead of telling Sonic to buzz off says: "Give me a bit. I'm doing something really important and once I'm done you can have it." Sonic, instead of responding reasonably and asking why Shadow needs the Chaos Emerald, instead goes: "No, what I'm doing is more important than whatever it is that you're doing. Hand it over now."

I know due to story reasons Shadow loses this fight, but im disappointed we didn't get a Sonic Boss Fight. Felt like they were teasing it but we ended up with nothing. Not saying that this cutscene is bad at all. I enjoyed it. I just wish we had a fight

I was thinking about this and tbh im glad we didnt get the sonic fight. It wasnt too necessary since we already have a shadow fight in gens and this would have made it repetetive. This cutscene is my absolute favorite in the game though so im glad instead of the fight they made this scene so well.

@@Realdeal958 I totally agree. When I saw the cutscene start to play I assumed I'd be fighting sonic but ended up not fighting and was alittle takenaback too. I think it was done on purpose as just a tease essentially. I do wonder why they opted not to go with the fight though. I'm assuming it's what I said in my earlier comment about it being repetitive but you knever know.

Basically he wanted to give Sonic the emerald “You can have it after I’ve finished my mission” but he still needed it in order to use chaos control, so he decided to hold back and let Sonic beat him so he could take the fake emerald off him.
