I love that our legacy was saved to inspire others for generations in the form of Lord Fortempts memoir's being retrieved by the girl who had been saved by the Vidofnir in HW. That little thing triggered the undoing of the ascian's success with a plan 10,000 years in the making.

spend 130 years toiling away to save Norvrandt and does all the events of Shadowbringers, and even before facing off against you-know-who still consideres himself to not measure up to his inspiration, to me, he's far more heroic than the WoL, since he had to do far more, with far less than our impossible might, easily one of the most heroic characters in a video game/fictional storyline I've seen in a decade or more.

One of the fun little details was that the Crystal Tower raids didn't become mandatory MSQ content until patch 5.3, so it was completely possible to get to this point without knowing who G'raha Tia was. It had the fun side effect of getting to meet G'raha Tia after this point, and realizing "An opportunistic thief makes off with the hero's prize" were the first words he spoke to us.

G'raha Tia is one of my favorite characters, meta-narratively, he's the side-character, the one-off NPC that dreams of being apart of the main cast, to be a hero, and that dream became a reaility, after multiple lifetimes of toiling heroism.

I kinda feel bad for you to be spoilered like this. Just for context (read it if u dont mind being spoilered) The Exarch revealled to be a character the MC met in the base game, last we saw of him he sealed himself in crystal tower, never to be seen for until 3 expansions later. Basically, this "Light World" isnt the world we start in, and time moves alot faster here. So that Exarch has been holding out for your arrival for hundreds of years, keeping himself alive with the power of the crystal tower.

I have such a hard time choosing between who my favorite character in Shadowbringers is. Feo Ul or Emet Selch. I always get a laugh when Feo Ul rants about how you never call upon them. But Emet Selch's general demeanor is just...peak.

Ah lovely. Though this was something I played 4 years ago when it came out, that this is a free to play MMORPG for anyone up to level 80 (Shadowbringers) story is insane. This cannot be understated for those who don't play or know FFXIV: this content is made with paid quality and serious consideration. FFXIV is not designed as a "free MMO." You aren't leveling any slower, you aren't locked out of any gear, you aren't separated from the paid playerbase for any of the "expansion level" content that is free. The F2P level 1-80 experience is (almost) exactly as it was when I played 4 years ago, and for someone who hasn't done it, it's just as good to them as it was for me. I say almost with the differences possibly being beneficial to most: 1) If you're not playing content on release, a lot of people of higher level are "synced" down meaning their gear is close to as good as possible for the content and as a player, they have a fair chance of already understanding what to do in fights. In other words, you're not experiencing the same difficulty as people who are truly running content blind, or so early that hardly anyone knows what to do and "learning the fight." 2) Acquiring very close to the "best gear" (you literally can do the hardest content that exists just fine with it), is far easier when you're not playing at the leading expansion and most recent "patch" state. You only have one end game currency called Poetics, and you can earn an unlimited about per week; and are only limited in that you can only have 2000 tomestones of poetics at once. All that means is "spend it" before you max. Those of us playing the most recent expansion are working with other currencies, and probably limited to earning 450 of them a week. This is undoutedly a benefit unless you like grinding stupidly long for your gear.

Were Stormblood was mainly bad, Shadowbringers was plain disgusting. The war propaganda in Stormblood was one thing "liberty or death, war is good, just follow orders, we will easily win" (and of course it was indeed that way, that's what made it war propaganda), but while there could have followed some explanations for that, for example Garlemald being the good guys (as they pretty much are, as the only nation trying so save the planet and ending all the wars by unification - you know, like pretty much all our modern states were created), instead we became something even more evil: the whitewashing of planetar genocide and torture. In Shadowbringers it was made clear, that the WoL is nothing but some SS officer who serves Hydaelyn's Reich of the new human, mass murdering all who want to fight against this and save and heal the planet and all life on it. Imagine someone would come up to you, say, you are not good enough and have to die, then be ripped apart, but no fear, your parts will be kept alive and while constantly dying also just be reborn, until 10.000 years of torture might forge some nice weapon out of it. That's the FF14 story of Shadowbringers and Endwalker. Some endlevel N@zi propaganda and that from a japanese company with their history...
