"Wait, Master Matoya?!" "Is that Minfilia?!" "People are at the Crystal Tower?!" It's artful how the trailer deliberately sets expectations while subverting them with the actual story. All of the answers to these questions really feel like, "Well, yes, but actually no..."

the scene with him as bard is a call back to the original 1.0 cinematic. truthfully this trailer will be confusing at first but as you play through shadowbringer it will begin to make sense

Archer. Bards didn’t exist back then and he’s not wearing the Bard specific gear.

@@acgearsandarms1343 He's wearing the Archer gear we saw him with when he was first introduced in the 1.0 cinematic. He started 1.0 as an Archer. The ARR opening cinematic had him as a Warrior. Heavensward he was a Dragoon. Stormblood he was first Monk and then Samurai. And, finally, for Shadowbringers he changes to Dark Knight. So the job changes he makes in this cinematic represent the order of progression he's gone through in the previous cinematics, until settling on DRK.

Bard was "Meteor's" first job shown off in the 1.0trailer. (Although that's not 100% true. We saw him carrying a gladiator sword in his bag.)

The opening is in fact the original timeline, we beat notzenos which leads to the bios weapon being deployed causing everyone to die, and we probably died in front the crystal tower in the original timeline

Man a lot of these new streamers are like puppy dogs. They're too trusting, so much they can't tell an obvious false identity (Y'stola's reveal as a Black Mage).
