How To Make Russian Post Punk Beats For Molchat Doma (FL Studio)

I would like to drop some wisdom for some of y’all. I use to play guitar in a post punk band so I’m not talking out of my ass. With guitars don’t be afraid to get weird, do some rhythmic and percussive stuff while letting the bass carry the actual melody. For example you can put a echo or delay effect on your guitar and during the verses just hit harmonics and strum your muted strings to the rhythm of the song. Post punk is all about experimenting, and it will definitely set your beats apart if you take influences from other genres (like some reggae elements which was very common for bands to take elements from) Edit: I love the vid also, you have some really good insights

I only have FLmobile and well, I don't know as much about recording as I would like to but this video is something inspiring for me. Why does my high hat sound like a jackhammer playing the same note super fast but your sounds so smooth?

I actually ran into this same issue a lot of times lol, here’s a few fixes. For one, you can change your high hat sample out to something “softer”. you also want to vary the velocity of the playing similar to how I did, that also softens things. Additionally for me if it’s STILL too harsh I’ll EQ some high end or turn the actual volume down, usually by the time u do all of those you’ll be good, but try one at a time ✌🏻

I used the piano roll on FL studio for the guitar one shot, but that’s all. The midi in the thumbnail is just for the sake of sending a message, I should probably change that tho, cuz I don’t use midi for any of my melodies anymore 🤣

Thanks for the drum pack but i never got the email. i dont have the 505 but i have a linn drum pack already. I been making this type of music for a while now and discovered that the right drums really capture the style. Same with the filter
