What do you mean bait and switch? You’re trying to get a GM employee discount but you or nobody you know is a GM employee. How’s that a bait and switch. I could understand if you worked for GM and gave them a call to get the discount and they told you something like the discount just ended 5 minutes ago or something. I’m trying to figure out how anyone could think this is a bait and switch. And let me say, I usually agree with the buyer when it comes to the dealership/customer experience but they were straight up 🆙 just this one

These online ads saying “Employee pricing available” and then not disclosing that is only for actual employees/immediate family is ridiculous. It’s like going to the grocery store, seeing a can of soda for $0.25 on the price tag and getting to the register and being told “$0.25 is for employees/immediate family, your price is $3.00”…. And dealers wonder why people like myself have hired Tomi to do this for them??

@ Bottom line…. If the employee pricing is only for employees / immediate family, then that should be sent in an internal communication to the employee/dependents not for the public to see and think that pricing applies to everyone. I know Target employees get a discount, but nowhere in the store or online is an employee discounted price showing. Many large companies have employee discounts / pricing for employees/dependents but only in the auto industry for decades has used the employee pricing as a tactic to try to get people to come in to their showroom and wear them down into buying a vehicle.

Why advertise 10k off a car, but in reality the price for 99.9% of poeple is 3k over sticker. Its a 13k swing. Come on man, they do it because it works. It gets people in the door. What other business advertises their employee pricing on their website but only employees actually get the pricing?

Why wouldnt they just tell their employees about the discount? Why would they put it on the their website if it wasnt for the general public? The dealerships think its busineness as usual. They didnt get the memo that they would be lucky if anyone would buy a car from them. Especially cars that are 100k. Love your channel Tommy. Keep them honest

If the customer doesn't mention the special offer, the first pencil is always full retail. After that, one of two things will happen: the customer buys or the customers tells you where they will buy. That's the sales process.

I quit dealing with car dealerships a couple of years ago, anymore I purchase from private sales or established auto auctions. My friend has a Florida dealers license so we went to the Tampa auto auction and picked up a 2021 Nissan Frontier full-cab 4x4 truck for my son. This truck only had 66,000 miles on it and we paid $8900 for it. When you walk around the auction house car lot you can run the vin # and get all the history on any vehicle.....

To me the most annoying part is they advertise the price as 95k and after all the bs they carefully add 3k to the initial msrp for floor mats and oil changes. So after all the negotiating, you wind up right back where it all began PLUS 3k haha. Total waste of time.

Paying 95K for GM products is insane; working in the automotive repair field, the newer cars nowadays are not built to last. Paying over 100k for a car made in China or Mexico with terrible quality control is only part of why no one is buying new. I'm in the market for a car, and I hate dealing with dealerships.

In my opinion you have to be crazy to buy a new vehicle today even if you can pay cash for it. They are crazy overpriced even if you get a 10% discount. Personally I am keeping my 12' Altima until it dies. The way I take care of my car as good or better than any 12' Camry. I say invest your money and don't buy an overpriced depreciating LIABILITY.

As someone who has been in car sales almost every vechile is over priced so when they give you money off it makes you feel like your getting a deal when your juts paying what they would have sold it for originally, espically new vechiles. Hence why the sticker price is SUGGESTED reatil price not this is what it cost to build it and get it to the dealer. My advice is do your homework on any vechile you purchase and dont but the extra warrenties and bs they will try to convince you you need.

Sales guy is right unless they are running "Employee pricing for Everyone". Looks like in Troy metro Detroit. I live in metro Detroit and all US car dealers also list employee price since many buyers qualify. I get GM and Chrysler/Jeep/Ram. No you can't stack Costco and Employee, but you can stack factory rebates. I got my Sierra around $14k off with employee + rebates (previous year and gen). No regrets all the kinks were worked out lol.

So having worked at a Chevy dealership heres what happened with the vip manager. She at 1st didn't change her settings from lease to finance so the finace deals weren't showing on her end. Then when you guys were discussing otd prices she had certain add ons (oil changes) that they usually sell you on. The thing with her is she didn't listen to your needs. If she was more focused on your needs she would of made sure it was on finance, and she would of explained the add ons and try to sell you on them. Unless this specific dealer does F&I seprate, she should of discussed all the add ons that were pre added. If she did that correctly and also listened she would of noticed what you were talking about and could of potentially had a sale. They both seemed a bit nervous and too focused on script instead of listening tbh

@IGottaSay I did it 4 months ago and bought a Model 3 LR AWD for 45,520 out the door after tax rebate. Few clicks on Friday morning and Monday afternoon was picking up my Tesla. No bs no drama. I was looking for buying a Camry XSE but the price was almost $46k OTD and I was tired of all the games they try to play with me. I’m done with dealers.

It does, and we did. It says you must be a GM employee. The whole point is in what world does ANY business advertise their "employee" pricing to anyone other than their employees. Why would they do this? When it reality the price is actually 12k higher.

Tomi missed out on a great deal unfortunately. I'd assume this is one of those GM dealers in Michigan that has codes available from many people that they give a kickback to when they use their employee codes. They can't discuss it over the phone with him because its "illegal" to sell these codes to others. But they can certainly tell him in person, if he'd just go into the dealership (which the dealership tried to convey to him). There's a reason so many of us go to Michigan to buy our GM cars lol, it's worth the drive.

Bro the rebates are literally say it right there “GM employee price” if you aren’t a GM employee or have a family member, obviously you don’t apply 😂 loyalty is basic GM to GM, conquest is trading a non GM or having one in the household , and Costco is over 3 months of a membership, it’s straight to the point, if you don’t understand the rebates don’t just assume “GM employee price” is for everyone because in the name obviously it is not!

Tomi, has proven that dealships are still scum. They all deserve to go belly up. The prices on any car or truck, of any make and model, are completely nuts. Every car or truck manufacturer should drop their MSRP by 50%. Even at this, they are not worth the money, since there are so many recalls on every brand. The deale s still don't get, now it is the buyers market. So dealerships can not rip off the customer anymore, but they will try.
