1:18 pro tip, set the damn thing right in the first place and you wont need a wire. using a press is unneeded, well its needed for a carrier bearing sry. a chain vice and hammer and i will outwork you. another thing after a proper heat draw it doesnt need balanced, i see people milking customers all the time with that and they show it in their videos. passing spec is what .10? i have never had to type or even write that down before this so i dont know if its correct. i would just see it on that gauge and get it down to nothing or .01-.03 all from a proper heat draw and that is on both end. also the most important point of this not needing a balance is to ALWAYS start your weld on opposite sides such as start the weld up top on the right weld then bottom for the left, that makes the wobble not an issue. this is by far the most simple job i have ever had, i ran a shop for two years bringing in over a mil a year for the business. it sure helped we are located right where huge transportation companies are located

Great short concise video. The step I can not figure out is how you indexed the yokes. With 16 splines 22.5 degree spacing yoke alignment can be off up to 11.25 degree,s off. Thanks,

I have exact same question. Correct universal joint phasing is imperative.

They have a little tool that they didn't show the guy using, it sits on the splines with a bubble level, straddles an odd or even # of splines depending on which stub and slip combo you are using, level also sits on tube yoke so you can level the bubbles to each other. Also, throughout the years, some manufacturers have designed an "out of phase shaft" right from the factory. Gen one Camaro's are out of time, don't remeber the exact amount, I have always built them in phase whether it's just a shorten & balance, or a new shaft. On a few occasions I have had guy going for 100 point resto's and they demand an out of phase replica and I have obliged. Old 60's Buicks and Pontiacs with two piece/double cardan shafts are out phase as well.

I hope this can solve my 2.2 xls 4x4 manual shaking problem when driving 120km/h, when driving faster there is no shake but when you apply brake car shakes like nothing else

Thanks for the vid! Do you happen to know if a yoke can be 180 degrees out? I took one off a Kenworth T 800 to change the carrier bearing and didn't mark it but did line it up with the front one at the transmission. Problem is now I have a 35 to 47 MPH vibration.

@@hakunamatataadventurebus5944 Yes it most definitely can. Turning it around fixed the terrible vibration.
