What is best about that h3 ? I know Shakh is a Shark in attacking. But for me h3 is natural. Before going for attack back rank issue is the problem which is clearly visible. Certainly not the kind of game I was expecting

I probably would have played h3 in an actual game so once the queen and the rook leave the back rank I don't have to worry about checkmate.

Yeah well it's a move that works in every line, and it looks like something that could be loosing. Remember that playing something like that in such a professional game would often be a loss of tempo ruining all winning chances. This time it's a extremely calm move that prooves that all of the other attacking moves don't work, despite looking extremely logical, dangerous, and winning. This move shows that he understood the positions 100% and it looks into a big number of lines in the position, while also being an unlikely move, as the cherry on top. It's a counterintuitive move in this position without a doubt, and if you think this looks like a logic move then i would strongly disagree.

In most of the variations , back-rank checkmate was an issue . He saw that and played h3.
