Vishy Anand is a class act. In games where Carlsen had beaten him in the WC, he stayed for the full length of the analysis, answering all the insulting and ridiculous questions people were asking him ("what do you tell your fans after losing this game?" etc etc). Compare him to Carlsen, who storms out of interviews in mere seconds. For all Carlsen's skill, he lacks the character to lose well. I don't look up to Carlsen, but I absolutely look up to Anand.

This is the first game which I ever studied. It is a gem. I remember all the moves: 1. e4 d5 2. exd5 Qxd5 3. Nc3 Qa5 4. d4 Nf6 5. Nf3 c6 6. Bc4 Bf5 7. Ne5 e6 8. g4 Bg6 9. h4 Nbd7 10. Nxd7 Nxd7 11. h5 Be4 12. Rh3 Bg2 13. Re3 Nb6 14. Bd3 Nd5 15. f3 Bb4 16. Kf2 Bxc3 17. bxc3 Qxc3 18. Rb1 Qxd4 19. Rxb7 Rd8 20. h6 gxh6 21. Bg6 Ne7 22. Qxd4 Rxd4 23. Rd3 Rd8 24. Rxd8+ Kxd8 25. Bd3 After Bd3 black resigned as there are too many threats. If Bh1 then Rb8+ and the only way to defend will be to play Nc8 otherwise the h8 rook hangs. But after Nc8 there is Ba6 which wins the knight as it can't move due to the pin. The prisoner bishop can only move from g2 to h1 and will eventually fall.

The longer I play, the more I find that many of the best and most brilliant moves involve pushing a pawn past the 6th rank. Whether it's a discovered attack/check, forcing the opponent to open up a file to infiltrate the back rank, forcing them to keep an otherwise dangerous rook on the back rank to prevent promotion, etc. My only brilliant move was a similar, c7 with a discovered attack on the rook, and also attacked a knight preventing check by the queen.
