The best soup ever by accident... I followed the recipe but put too much-boiled water. After 30 minutes or so, I realized that it would take forever to get it dry. I decided to take the water out and it turned out to be the best tomato soup I have ever had. Sure enough, I continued with the Shaksuka which was delicious as well!!

I first tried this in Cyprus. Initially, I thought it was an odd breakfast food, but it quickly became my daily go to.

I had the same initial thought when I first saw the recipe, but same as you it soon became a staple with my family.

Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés may have been the first to introduce a small yellow tomato to Europe after he captured the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan, now Mexico City, in 1521.

This is so true, we are very thankful to Hermán Cortés.

Shakshuka is not only tunisian dish it's also very common dish in Algeria.
@CookaroundtheWorld2 жыл бұрын
You are correct, it is a dish popular throughout the North Africa and the Middle East. My recipe is from Tunisia as my research indicates this is where the recipe originates from.

Shakshouka is a Tunisian food par excellence before something called Algeria was founded by Turkish pirates and already the east of Algeria was for millenia a part of Tunisia/EX-Africa aka Carthage kingdoms so it is Tunisian and it passed to you and please Algerians really as Tunisians are done with you and bothered by your interfering in everything and claiming a culture and a history that is not yours just to gain any fame ..Before Turkish pirates there was not something called Algeria it was a small provinces instable and fighting each other and because of France u got parts of Tunisia and Morocco so whatever you say that prestigne is not yours and the only thing I would remeber of your history is your stabbing Carthage on the back for the account of the Romans and then they destroyed you and today because of some oil you think that you have a deep rooted history no you were a aprovince of other nations and i can not see any real achievment in all fields . Try to forget us Tunisians as we forgot you ...watch about your country my dear and stop trying stealing the show of others
