This is the best mix, the original, album version with the low key, tender, instrumental intro. I got this in the dj pool in 1982, and liked it far more than the other mixes, which just jump into the uptempo beat. More class and more style. And a great dance song, to boot.

My first live performance featured the Whispers, Shalamar and other artists on the Solar label. Shalamar stole the show with this cut. Jody wore a backless outfit leaving little to the imagination and Jeffrey Daniel's did his popping and moonwalk that would put MJ to shame. And Howard Hewitt had the ladies swooning. A great show.

It is, isn't it? I had to go through all the other uptempo mixes to find the one from the album and the one we got in the dj pool in the 1982. It's only due to the fact that I remembered it clocked in around 7 minutes that I was able to tell which was the "right" one. And this is it!

Yep this version is definitive because of the dramatic opening and beginning vocals. Shalamar was so close to being a supergroup. They probably are because their sound was heartfelt and seductive.

Wow, I've never heard this version before. I find it weird that this original LP version never made it onto CD, as it seems all the re-releases of the album put Rick Gianatos' disco remix in its place. Thankfully it will finally officially make its appearance on CD on July 19 as part of the "Shalamar Gold" 3CD compilation.

This is not the 12" remix. It is the original LP version. Does anyone know where I can find this on CD? All the CD reissues I've purchased are the remix.

I don't think there is one. I've looked for it myself. You can always copy the link and find a site that will convert the video file to mp3.

There's a new Shalamar compilation being released this friday (July 19), which will include both this original LP Version (which doesn't seem to have ever been released on CD) as well as the disco remix.
