Very good and genuine presentation indeed. Saw this for the first time in the summer vacations of 1986 on doordarshan when l was in class 4th. Still today the melodies of RD is giving goosbump, Dharam ji had a most handsome look here in this film than any of his film what l felt.

I think in 1984, i was in seven standard class when movie was show in evening and suddenly the climate changed in Mumba, in thane city and strong and heavy wind was blowing in thane and i was playing near by and came running to my house to watch the movie and all family member watch the movie in black white tv together , such old beautiful day will never come back. @@nityashetty5613 It may be in 1984 but why l 'm telling it '86 as Doordarshan had shown the series of memorable movies in the month of May of '86 like 'Yaadon ki Baraat' of Dharam ji followed by Rajesh Khanna's 'Maalik', Randheer Kapoor's 'Humraahi then on the 4th week it was 'Shaalimar' and after 'Jhanak Jhanak Paayal baaje', being a child of merely 9 years which l found boring as it lacked action and thrill. Moreover England-India cricket series was going on in England those days (summers of '86 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev). Nevertheless l appreciate you for your words and sentiments. Those were the golden days that will never return again. Life was very simple with a lot of good memories. May god bless you.

After grand success of sholay in 1975 many big budget movies were announced and released like alibaba 40 chor the burning train samrat saltanat etc but all these movies did not do well. Shalimar was also one of them. Due to poor screenplay direction and presence of Hollywood stars in hindi movie i think these were the reasons of failure of this film. Thanks for another interesting episode.

Great information about a wonderful movie. Pancham's score, especially the title music, was the glimpse of how he would have sounded like in Hollywood had he got an opportunity. Title music and the romantic theme music was unique. As for an Indian audience it was Dharmendra -Zeenat - R.D.Burman movie!

Raj kumer santhosi and sunny deol sign rd buman two more movie project you have some details and information about project. In 1999 zulmi movie one song of rd burman included in the movie was whole movie project was signed for rd burman because of rd burman death later dilip sen sameer sen gave the music for zulmi. Sunny deol produced gayal have a music by bappi lahari not rd burman . Please give me proper right answer to my questions . I became fan of your channel and again thanks my brother.

When the songs were released in 1978 , the songs 1,2 cha cha and Hum Bewafa were instant hits. Later on Ayina wahi reheta hai also became a hit. But Mera Pyaar Shalimar took more time to become a hit (to day it is a all time hit song) as it was a slow and background song. but definitely it is a slow poison song.

Shalimar is undoubtedly one the best cult film ever made..Dharamji was d apt choice for d film and he was excellent..the only problem with d film was it's tribal angle which drags..if we remove that portion of all tribal song n Columbus becoming God, then it wud have done wonders..yes as per dharamji, the background story of all d theif shud have been more exciting and bit thrill ful..Hope, some day this movie will b remade with a better script, editing,direction, and music, with a big canvas, without using green screen and VFX.. overall for me Shalimar is really a Gem made in India till date..A real Ruby..way ahead of its time..4.5 stars from me...minus -.5 removed due to its unwanted tribal people scenes.. Masterpiece
