I use to sing the John Rutter arrangement of this hymn with a large church choir in Oklahoma, USA. How I miss those days.

that song certainly brought back memories of my younger years. It was sung a lot more back in the 1950s. One of the songs of hope of assurance, that yes one day we will meet again at the river that flows from the throne of our God.

A prominent feature in several westerns, usually from John Ford. I can also recommend the Revels chorus version at the end of their Wassail! Wassail! album but this was a very pleasant contrast in its style.
