Can I locate the check valve at the top end, in case I have to change it some day? There is a high salt content in this water. It has a history of eating things. So, if the valve is reachable, a future headache will be solved. Oh, part one and two are great videos.

Hi Matt, Thank you for watching. Check valves are designed to have waters weight on side of the valve ( pump side). So, when the check valve is installed down by the well point, all of the waters weight is on the top of the check valve when it's closed. Putting the check valve up high, makes the check valve pull on the seal where it seats when closed. The check valve flapper could begin to warp with reverse pressure ( suction) that is occuring when pump shuts off. So, to answer your question, you could put it above ground but, you may be replacing the check valve more often. In your case, it does sound like maybe it's an alternative. Just be aware that you may lose suction and would have to prime the pump more often... Thanks again for watching!

You should have used a 4" cap over the top of the 4" pipe with a 1" hole drilled in the center to cover the casing and use a disconnect union to connect the pipe to the well in case you need to remove the pump later.

You should of put a sand trap before the pump on the suction side to catch the sand before it goes through the pump. I put one on the suction side and one on the pressure side to catch any sand. I bought the ones you can clean by just opening the clean out valve on the bottom of the filter.

ive discovered that a soft starter for the shallow well pump would save u lots of issues with your inverter and is easier on your pump and plumbing. you tube has great vitds on diy soft starters that would be very cheep. i found your vid as i was looking at such an option for me. 3kw inverter 1.5 hp pump. not nuff batteries to be reliable.

Hi Rush Bayou---I would be very interested in your list of equipment if you have had time to decide on what you are getting. I am clueless on this electric pump set-up. My video search initially was for a manual pump on a shallow well set-up. When I ran across this...I'd really like to try this but my comfort zone stops shy of the solar and inverter and selection of pump. Actually I would like to split the pipe coming out of the well--install a manual pump on one leg of pvc and the electric pump on the other. Put ball valve cutoffs on each leg. Not sure if that would be productive....just dreaming. If you can help...thanks a bunch. Jesus bless.

Please tell me you put a sanitary seal on your well head. You have done a fine job for a "shade tree" mechanic. My wish is that everyone who does this type home-owners work, please when dealing with shallow wells it is also important to add the sanitary seal or a cover on the top of your 4" not just plastic wrap but seal it. You do not want critters in your well nor do you want flood waters in there either.

Yep. Just get a 4" cap and drill a 1" hole in the middle for the well pipe and run a bead of silicone where the cap and 1" pipe meet. That would make a fine sanitary seal

i wish they made this pump in DC ... for that matter , we need more DC power items and appliances and make them easier to find. no reason for dc refrigerators are sooo costly and hard to find. ty 4 ur vid my well is 600ft from my house with a 12ft drop gravity feed. pump is in the house fed trough the floor. i also have an access to the well water without the pump. my pump is a 1.5 hp but way too big for my needs. i need to add a soft start so my inverter is more reliable. i used brass till i reduced to 3/4 then reduced again to 1/2" as i split to each location. reduces stresses i think. i also deal with freezing temps. id like to redo the well and add another 6ft to the water height, then id be able to do more without the pump. its a ground fed spring at the base of a mountain. but an old well that hadnt been used in 40 years. lol

I had enough of Indiana brrr so I was going to move to Arizona but at the last minute decided to come down to Florida. Living off grid in Suwannee county in my truck camper running solar and a generator for backup and for heavy loads. This isn’t for everyone lol. We shower outside with a shower bag 5 gallon and use a coffee maker to heat water for now while getting set up. It’s a trip mentally going to Walmart and lowes and seeing the outdoor garden center open in January lol cause that ends in august up north. Loving the sunshine warm weather to a guy like me that’s used to single digit temperatures back in Indiana. Keep up the great work and videos they are appreciated.

Hey Kevin, thank you for watching. Wow two ponds?!? It sounds like maybe you should run pipes to ponds from your rainwater drainage systems to fill them. Yard drains discharge as well. You would need minimum 850/900 watts of continuous power to run the pump all day for the system in this video. That would be 9 - 100 watt panels. It would take months to fill a pond. Best bet, use rainwater run off into the pond(s). Thanks again for watching! Cloudy days

Hey Joe, fill clean large trash containers 3 ( 120 gallons)would be a good start and probably enough. Keep water in truck bed or place containers on a platform at least 1 ft high. Place hose into container, hook up siphon to pressure washer.

Hey southern haven, Thanks for watching. I actually am not particular about a brand. It isa modified sine wave inverter. They are very affordable versus a full sine wave inverter. If you are running expensive electronic equipment, you might consider a full sine wave inverter but, for the pump system, modified or square wave inverter is just fine. Too many things wrong here to name but the most important is NOT TO DRINK THIS WATER.....this is a seepage well not a shallow well which would be deeper....And you did not seal the surface casing ( 4" pipe) With sodium bentonite holeplug rock and grout to further prevent contaminants from getting into this water...And for anyone with the question of using bleach ,,,,no that won't work to kill the bacteria because it will continue to produce bacteria filled water through this type well... Please boil before using for anything.

I have been drinking water from a shallow well I installed decades ago with zero health issues. You should define what you mean by a shallow well. Here in north Florida, we usually hit water at about 4-6 feet, but usable water is 16-22 feet. No one in their right mind would drink water from a 5 ft well, but a 20 ft well is just fine unless you have local contamination.

@@jim7smith Florida is almost nothing but sand down to 23 ft in most places. I've worked on many in north east Florida and usable water is not necessary drinkable water. 25 ft water is not well formation water nor freshwater. Your well is almost certainly contaminated with bacteria. Which travels through the sand and partially filtered as it rains and runs down but not enough to take out contaminates that need filtration like sand, shell, rocks, clays and chalks to filter these out. You can't buy a filter as good as the natural ones below our feet. You might also want to test your water for nitrates.

Hey Jeff, Thank you for watching!!!! in this video, the pressure gauge is showing NO RESISTANCE pressure. a smaller pipe (like toilet water inlet pipe) is smaller and adds pressure to the system. It would read around 40 psi minimum while filling a toilet tank. I've used the water for many things on the property. It works great! Thanks for watching!!!

Actually 220V is better for pumps because it will use less current which means thinner wires. When the pump is wired for 110 it uses twice the current. There is a surge whenever a pump cycles on. Also better for your generator if it supports 220V as it uses both phases of the generator output. Consider a 3000W generator can only support 1500W per phase.

@@AtlanticDrain Yes power consumption is the same, the difference is 220V it is distributed over both phases. If the generator is not big enough some pumps could struggle on 110 probably not a shallow well pump. Load balancing any service is a good thing, you would not want all your circuits on one phase.
