Great video. Seems fairly simple. An OBD scan of my 1988 Chevy truck, with the 350, has the code for the injectors, plus EGR components. Running really rough and major loss of power. I thought I needed a rebuild, 400,000 miles, but I'll definitely do this first.

@@zachmoore9097 not yet. Can't get the EGR valve loose, and just ordered the injectors. May have to take it to a mechanic, if I break a bolt, on the EGR valve, I don't have the tools or skills to fix it.

@@rene3399 I replaced the fuel injectors, they were rebuilt, and defective, took it to a mechanic and they replaced them with used ones, runs great now.

@@zachmoore9097 I replaced them myself, wasn't easy doing the rubber gasket with the spring I replaced also. Can't remember what that part is called. The injectors I bought were bad, dumping too much fuel. I returned them and too it to a shop, they put used ones in for $300 total, and it runs great now.

First time i saw that system was on a cross fire injection. I would use motor oil though, just saying. Is that the fuel regulator on the back. Great videos, keep up the good work.

This vidio was great so my 1992 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab 5.7 TBI would idle like it was new but took on the road and cough and sputter and shake and misfire so i changed the temperature control sensor and nothing so i changed the MAP sensor and yep nothing so i changed the TPS which is the throttle control sensor and bam runs like new

I don't remember the exact size. if you buy a new main seal, just compare it to anything around hat diameter.

yes. the tank pressure can keep pushing gallons of gas out of the lines.

hard to say. Local injector clinics will still flow and test TBI injectors for like $30. maybe worth it to eliminate a potential issue area.

Your supposed to use automatic transmission fluid to lube the O rings according to the GM chevy manual

What would cause a backfire from one of these systems on a 1984 chevy 454 that has timing advance control??? Can it be timing to advanced? Or too small of injectors? It backfires out of the throttle body when going up any hill when the engine is at full operating temperature.. any info would be great... THANK you!!

check the timing, the ECU adds timing or subtracts. a bad TBI won'at cause back fires like that.

Try cycling the injectors with a 9v battery. a solid stream would be a injector stuck open.

I have a 454 7.4 that I switched the injectors on but they won’t throw gas out ik it’s getting fuel any help with it, as well as the exit side on the injector is different but idk if that has something to do with it?

if the injector doesn't fire, something in the wring probably went bad. you can cycle the injector with a 9V battery as well to test it

Coating paper gaskets with Chapstick before installing will prevent them from sticking.

Could getting the notches on the under side of the injector in the wrong place cause idling problems on start up and stumbling acceleration. Just rebuilt my the and I am having these problems. Other videos didn't explain them and thought one might be in the wrong spot. Came a cross your video problem solving .Thanks

As far as I know there the originals. It had a small miss before but now it it's worse in other ways. One cold start it idle normal the idles down for about a minute and stutters on acceleration after. I was told it may need to be relearned. Thanks for the response

in my experience, every car that I've rebuilt the TBI on, ALL have run better afterwards. so it's best to just rebuild it, because it's cheap and easy.

Dumb question here: we bought new injectors for a 96 454 we're working on. They had these little podges of white rubber something in the very top center of the injectors. Like maybe to keep them from being damaged. They're still not working. Should we pull that lil white plug thingie out?

they look the same, but the flow rates for the 4.3/5.0/5.7/7.4L are all different. you have to ensure the injectors are for your engine size.

If someone follows this video they might find themselves in trouble cuz it does not explain the proper orientation of the fuel injectors inside that throttle body they have a little devits on the bottom that can get crushed against the housing if not properly installed it also does not explain how to safely remove the injectors

so every car and engine has a different injector part number. they have different flow rates. I believe TBI Forum posts online have all the versions and part numbers.
