Oversouls are a very underrated power system but yet has alot of depth on a writing standpoint. Since oversouls is like a combination of Nen & Stands but have infinite possibilities.

but i don't like the concept that furyoku has a number, it makes the battle becomes more linear since you know the furyoku of the shaman and greater furyoku means you will win against smaller furyoku that's why they can't stop hao because his furyoku is too much

I'm fine with it having a number simply because its the result of talent and or hard work. hao reincarnated twice his number should be higher. The legendary warriors resurrected they should have higher numbers, The Iron Maiden was in constant training/torture her numbers should be higher. But that is not the end all be all.

@@maulanart I assume, the “power score“ was just a trend back then, that many mangaka implemented into their stories to not lose popularity, for example Dragon Ball, Hunter x Hunter and even One Piece with its bounty have it. While it shows the viewer that some characters have more power than others, it doesn't guarantee that the higher number wins, because this power doesn't correlate with actual combat experience (it's like a weapon; if you don't know how to use it to your advantage, you might lose the fight to a more experienced but unarmed person). Furthermore, as far as I remember, they don't even mention the score too much. Mostly just to show that Hao has a ridiculous amount of furyoku

To be fair,the reason yoh can manipulate metal is because a piece of mosuke(a master swordsmith) remained with him...as well most of the main cast layer gain control of the 5 great spirits.

@Omega Zero exactly it's a measure of your pool. How deep it is. But the key is how efficiently you use it. If Chocolove and Ren used their full power yoh would have a lot of trouble to contain them but their O.S. consume around 10,000 of furyoku when destroyed. So the different in their pool reserve is less relevant compare to how efficiently they use their reserve. IT was already obvious since the very beginning with Yoh vs Ren rematch and was confirmed during the rest of the manga

This manga was really a lot better in handing the power growth of the main characters. If I'm not mistaken, both in the Anime and Manga, how had a furyoku of 1Mill+. While Yoh and gang in the Anime had 8-10k lol. And they somehow still defeated Hao AFTER obtaining the great spirits. At least in the Manga, the main cast had a furyoku of ranging from 100k - 200k. Which made them look a little better compared to Hao.

Another anime will start airing next year, but the manga is complete and takes another route than the first anime. I usually prefer anime over manga, but in this case I'd really recommend to check out the manga, too. The story is very unique and the art style gets much better very quickly. But not gonna lie, the beginning is a bit slow and kinda slice-of-life-ish, but once you get past that, it's gets better and better :D

Great Video, quick question does this mean a shaman with enough Furyoku can create an Oversoul with a higher number than their Ghost Reiryoku? Like if the Shaman has Furyoku of 20,000, but their ghost has Reiryoku of 5,000, could Shaman create an Oversoul with power of 10,000? Is this why Jeanne and Sati Saigan can't beat Hao despite having stronger Guardian Ghosts and why Azazel failed to kill Hao?

And change his name tf is chocolove, black characters in most manga are jokes or just to seem more diverse and are often 2d characters that are dumb and first appear as strong scary but get beat by the mc because their dumb and only tag along because who knows. These characters wouldn't get this treatment if they where white or any other race, if they where white would be the blond haired blue eyed European, Russian or American exchange student or foreign that is relevant to the plot and special interesting techniques and are loved by the cast rather than a pet heck even pets get more love in anime. How they treat black characters is awful the cast often doesn't even like them unless their white blue eyed people. They also give them animation that's seen as cheap and cartoony while they give white and other characters these lavish animation and drawing they can't even afford. Opacho is more believable and likeable than chocolove the author just needed to give her better animation more detail.

I loved shaman king battle's and their power system but I would say after a while I got a little bored and annoyed with it. Mostly because it seemed to live or die by it's power system but after a while I got tired of off screen wins. I felt like this was a fairly common scenario, oh you managed to beat me but I'm the weakest of the group my compatriots are far stronger. Down to last member who shouldn't stand a chance. Chapter ends. Next chapter the character has won.... WHAT?!? HOW?!?! plot that's how.
