Can't help but feel angry at such people who make their an innocent child go through hell and act like a f*cking hero as if taking responsibility makes it any better. That's why i'm pro-abortion. For this reason and this reason only. Both of my parents (24m-27d) were married (arranged) when they had me. But they "used" me as a tool to shut their relatives up about children. They were going through alot financially and mentally and yet they brought me here. And of course they were going through turmoil they used me as a punching bag (quite literally sometimes). The least they could do was show some guts and not fall into peer pressure. That's not strength but weakness. So not really admirable. Do you seriously think the girl in this video going to keep up her cool all the time during hard times? Have you read up statistics on abuse in single parent households? My story is nowhere close to the horrific shit i've heard from kids coming through these households cause since I at least had a good neighborhood. But people like you come in and have the audacity to tell kids that "at least they didn't let you die" as if somehow its a "blessing". I can assure you its not a blessing since dying is way better than suffering everyday. So yes. The scars on her neck worry me. The fact that she's covered head to toe in dark, baggy clothing could indicate she wants to hide something about her body. I don't want to speculate too much, but I truly hope she's remembering to take care of herself while also caring for her daughter. I also hope that GIGGLE's staff and the three interviewers keep this young woman in mind and do something to help her, even if it's something as simple as keeping her company/babysitting or helping with basic expenses. A little kindness goes a long way. People in Jiwoo's situation deserve to live comfortably, to be taken seriously, and have all they help they can get.

We had a girl get pregnant in my high school as well and instead of shaming her we rallied around her. Her friends threw her a baby shower, still invited her to fun things and had her bring her baby if she needed to, offered to babysit, and supported her as she graduated early. Becoming a mother can be so isolating for women, it's important to be the village and help in any small way you can 💕

It's such a strange thing to put others down for. I understand some might think the person was being careless with their partner but why try and pile it on when single parents are going through enough as it is. Honestly, every single SouthEastAsian I've met in my (western) country no matter age or gender has been judgemental like this. The girls are extremely jealous of you and the guys either refuse to look you in the eye or will look at you as if you somehow offended them by talking to them lol. The girls are the exact opposite, they STARE at you without pause for minutes, as if they try to kill you with their eyes. They seem to fixate a lot on my boobs and behind lol. One time I tried to befriend an Asian girl because I felt sorry for her when she cried in the middle of the class (she was afraid of failing), she then tried stealing my best friend from me and would constantly accuse me like "are you jealous of me?" (when obviously she was jealous as she was trying to steal my bf and later my boyfriend too, failed both times). I also was much better in studies than her, guess she hated me for that too (even tho I wanted to help her, but she was too proud for that). My neighbors rn are Vietnamese and they are also loud, they constantly bang against the walls and will clean their apartment at like 2am when every normal person with a job sleeps (they live on welfare). And before them lived a younger Chinese couple in the same apartment and they were even louder. They also had no jobs and the woman got pregnant while living there, but I didn't have a problem with the babies cries. The problem was that she would always walk around with dominatrix boots and would vaccum the apartment also at 3 am. The constant clack clack on the floor (even at night!!!) drove us f*cking nuts. I swear to god, something's not right with them. Also, when you tried talking to them, they would be like "huh? Don't speak language." Well, when the landlord came over, they suddenly knew how to speak the national language (not English). Hypocrites.

However, we have left a letter with instructions to the adoption agency that if her biological parents wanted to make contact, we will be happy to travel to Korea to meet with them. Yes, she definitely knows that she was adopted, but she has no interest in finding out about more about her biological parents. Maybe someday she will. I kept all the photos and documents.

We did everything to help her, I was only 10 when my nephew was born but I still did my best and I would say he turned out well too. He is almost 20 now and doesn't know his bio dad but at least that dude paid child support and still does because my nephew is in school still. For those of you who do not know or are confused, basically the Korean age system is such that they count the year in the mum's belly. So basically the baby is already a year old when they're born (eg: I'm 22 years old but in Korea I would be 23). I became pregnant at age 30. When I was experiencing pregnancy, I sobbed and sobbed because all I could do was throw up. My sister had her first baby at a really young age and went through so much hell that she didn't deserve. It hit me like a bag of bricks how hard it must have been, and how scary. Then to add your body changing, the pain of it, suddenly I was so overwhelmed with empathy for all living beings who had struggled or were struggling with pregnancy. There are a lot of young, stupid boys in the comments (some college-aged) that are shaming people in this thread. Maybe they'll never change or feel empathy for what women go through. And to them I say: go to hell. Go to absolute hell you gd idiot punk bstards. I hope you never experience the joy and pain of being a parent, and that one day you learn to shut your gd mouths. Anyway, I now have 2 baby girls and I still know all the normal struggles of being a parent. I think about my sister often and how there's no gd way I could ever have gotten through what she went through by herself. It's not like a hero story--because you don't come out of hard experiences unscathed, and you don't always make good decisions. All I know is that if I--a married woman with an iron-tight graduate degree and a well-earning husband--am having a hard time, then just imagine having absolutely no one to rely on to help you. My older sister gave birth at 17 but luckily the father stayed around to help her and even helped pay her college tuition and was able to become a nurse. But I applaud all single parents, both mothers and fathers cause raising a kid is one of the hardest but most satisfying experiences in life.

In korea, when you are born, you are considered to be 1 year old...so, they count the age you are going to be instead of what you were at your last birthday. Edit-: For people who are confused about her age being 20 instead of 19. It's cause she probably was born in January. That puts her 1 year higher. It may sound confusing, don't give too much thought over this.

As a single mother myself, I got pregnant at 20 and in my 3rd year of college. Now I am graduating in a few months and my baby turned 1. I love her so much and I did everything so I could get a job before graduating to college. Now I am an engineer and giving back to my parents😊 nothing is truly impossible. We should never label ourselves as the person that was defined by others. We should be the one to define what we can be and to what extent we can achieve our dreams. i love the advice at 12:40 "the one who endures is the one who wins" I had my son at 21. i wasn't technically a teen mom but i completely understand how she feels. i had to withdraw from college after my son was born and there were many young dreams that were not realized. it was hard seeing friends do young people things when my son was a young child. however, i eventually did go back to college and finish my degree as well as travel and experience some dreams when he was a little older. today, my son is the light of my world and I'm so thankful he came into my life.

This is a really great series. Teaching in Korea I learned how incredibly conservative it is. Being a single mother is like the absolute biggest shame even in this day and age which is sad. had my daughter just 5 days after turning 19. it was unexpected and admittedly regrettable at the time. i went through hell with and without her father, and still am to this day 3 years later, but my baby was my responsibility from the day i found out. i can tell you.. the absolute emotional and physical turmoil this woman surely went through is forgotten by those who shame young mothers. we are selfless in every way imaginable. she is correct, we feel pity for our child, we feel guilt, we feel protective and yet wistful for the life we see others having.. my sympathies and commendations to this amazing mother. to go on a show and share something so vulnerable, is strength alone. it’s hard to make friends and we don’t go out often. it’s hard to take care of yourself. it’s hard to imagine what life will look like in 10,5,2 years. i look young so i also receive weird or pitying looks in public. no one asks if we need help when we’re visibly struggling (not a single mother specific experience). barely anyone stops to think about the obstacles we endure to give our child the best life. they judge us but will never spend a day in our shoes. to all the kind comments, thank you. myself other mothers like me feel so seen by your love and compassion. we don’t require pity, we only need to be treated like a human being too. we are not castaways, we are not less than thou. we are still our age, deep deep inside, we just are required to be much older.

Where I grew up, girls were getting pregnant and abandoned by 14 or 15. The double standards were ridiculous. I applaud you, Kim Jiwoo. @@MinniChii I did a research prroject on this in high school and...it's tough. My conclusion is that there is not enough social support for abstinence and yet too much shame about sex. Your peers expect you to have sex, yet those who are old enough and mature enough to understand the consequences are either too embarrassed/busy to speak to kids/teens about it or are dismissed in teenage rebelliousness. And the assumptions about sexual activity in media really doesn't help. As someone who decided to abstain until marriage at a very young age--more than that, to avoid anything that might cause sexually impure thoughts--my peers were so ready to argue with me about the foolishness and prudishness of what I was doing. And then there's an assumption that if you have very conservative values on sexuality that you must be judging/hating LGBTQ+ people. Thank God my parents had actually exposed me to the Bible, so I had something to hold on to when all my peers were yelling and screaming at me.

When I was in my early 20's I had some unwed mothers who would hang out/party. If it were night or anytime, I made sure their kids were well cared for. Making sure they had food and drink. If mom wanted to party I was there to make sure the kids were ok. None of them were mine but then they were all mine. Still to this day over 30 years later the kids and mothers thank me. I never took advantage of the situation with the mothers. I just tried to do the right thing by the kids. Gave moms a chance to blow off steam and relax a bit. Gave the kids a safe environment, as safe as I could.

My bio mom had me at 14. She couldn't raise me since her home life was a mess and she was still so young, so I ended up being adopted by amazing people, but the greatest gift my bio mom gave me was life. The guy she got pregnant with was in his 20s. It was a mess. She could have easily chosen to abort me, but she didn't. And I'm eternally grateful to her for making that hard choice despite all she had to go through. Keep strong, the most important thing you can give your baby is love and guidance 💕

I have friends who became parents around the same age and while I do think it's risky to become a parent at such a young age due to how unstable your life can be at that time (you know, work and education and all that) and think you should wait... You know when stuff like this happens you just gotta make the best out of it. You're not a bad parent for being young, as long as you do your best and realize that you're not just responsible for yourself anymore you'll be a good parent. Some of my friends had kids due to hell spawn partners they shouldn't have been involved with but ofc the decision to keep the child was their own.

It is not an easy process. Love is not nearly enough to raise a child, especially when most societies place so little value on children and families. Money is not enough either, on its own. You saved a child a life of probable misery at the hands of a cruel society. You made a great sacrifice, which shows you can be an amazing parent when the time is right.

I know it's more common in Korea but I don't think that takes away from her being open about it to thousands of ppl online, esp since her job pretty heavily relies on her physical appearance. There's a reason why most idols don't talk about having work done on themselves

It's really common in Korea, popularised by the Pop-Culture there. But yes, she is brave as it's uncommon for society, especially on a digital platform that is seen by millions, to reveal a personal detail like that.

I really appreciate how strong teen mothers are, and how hard their life is and maybe that is why there are some norms made by elders, there is a specific time and age to do specific things, it's in our hand to make our life easy or difficult... So the message that young people should take from this video is that teen pregnancy is not a flower bed and you should wait till you are earning, responsible and mature enough...❤️

Im a single mom myself, got pregnant at 16 and have been alone since then, the father long gone. Im now 26 and finally, I feel like I can invest my time in college. My parents had me at 18 and 19. I’m 15 years old now and it’s so strange to me how much stigma and shock there is around people having children this young because as I’m growing up and I’m already in 10th grade I’ve grown up seeing my parents simply as my parents. So it’s quite interesting when new acquaintances and friends find out how young my parents are now (33,34) and seeing the looks on their face when they’re trying to figure out how my parents have a 15 year old daughter and a 9 year old son and are in their mid-30’s. Fortunately I haven’t met anyone who’s been rude to my parents about it or say anything rude about me. Seeing this video it really reminds me how hard it must have been for my mom and dad to have a baby so young. I’m grateful my dad stayed and loves me and I feel sorry for this woman that she had to make the decision to leave her boyfriend. But she appears to be a great mom and I’m sure she’s going to raise that baby with so much love and the baby will grow up and be an incredible young adult. Hopefully she can see my comment and see from a perspective of being the child of a young parent that I’m incredibly grateful my parents decided to stay for me and I’ve been told I’ve turned out to be a nice funny girl and im sure her daughter when she is 15 like me or maybe even younger she’ll be a beautiful sweet girl who appreciates her mom dearly. Keep being there for her and thank you for being a great mom to your daughter despite being so young! I wish the best wishes on you and that everything will turn out well for you and your daughter as you two grow together!

My mom had my brother when she was 23 and my father had to go to another state right after she gave birth due to his transfer. She had to raise him alone for the first few years. I can't understand how hard it must be for all the mothers around the world. I hope all of you stay strong and healthy 🤍

as someone who has harmed myself as a way of coping in hard times i worry for her with the baggy and clothing to cover her up, the scars on her neck make me think she had or is in dark times. it’s extremely hard especially for teenagers and single mothers to take care of children alone with society’s view on single and young mothers, i truly hope she is doing well financially and mentally.

I can relate to this very much so and I think for me having a child at a young age changed me so much as a person, I learned alot along the way and I’ve grown to understand life and myself better than I ever would have if I would’ve never had my son at 17. He’s 14 now, in football and basketball, all AP classes and making As, and he’s in band. He’s so smart and talented! And I graduated with two associates degrees and I’m continuing my education for my bachelors. It can be done and you can succeed despite what people think!

My parents had me when they were 20. My father is only an elementary graduate and my mother is a highschool graduate. It was really difficult because they were both so young and they already have 2 babies to feed. Right now, we’re financially stable than before and I thank my parents for enduring all the hardships they went through in the past. I couldn’t be more blessed to have them in my life. To you, you are so brave. To have a kid at young age can be both a struggle and a blessing but I just wanna say that I am proud of you. You are so strong and I know you will go through tough moments of your life. You’re doing great already. Keep hanging in there :)
