@@Ru_90 more broadly it can be seen a being about the cycle of poverty and the generational trauma it causes and how people like the Gallaghers get stuck when they grow up in a situation like they did. Same patterns, same destructive coping mechanisms, surrounded by people doing bad things to get out of bad situations or just to feel a little relief from everything. Definitely the point of the show wasn’t to have a cliche “happy ending” just the idea that they keep going and are resilient. Fiona was emblematic of the rare one who “breaks the cycle” even if her exit was unintentional

One day Emma will understand what Emmy was dealing with and she will look back and regret throwing her under the bus. I've been in Emma's headspace, she was taught to keep quiet and accept bad treatment. It feels like a betrayal to see others stand up for themselves, until you realize the anger is justified. @@Maggie-ey3hv Emmy was upset because she was a main character along with William H Macy and her pay never increased the whole run of the show while his did. As a child performer, I completely understand where she is coming from. At a certain age, your female peers will start to treat you like competition. They will subtly start to behave differently in little ways, and you will genuinely have no idea why. As a child you will not understand that the pressures put on young women will force them to compete with every other woman around them. Usually an older woman will see that dynamic, and hopefully explain what is going on to you. My mom did that for me, although, her response was to be more aggressive when I think the appropriate one would to be more assertive and confident in your space.

This was tactless and unnecessary. Nobody's perfect and if you're being devalued and working your ass off, guess what...you're not going to be sweet and stellar. It's human. Emma is clearly very young. But this is a huge no. What's the point? Or motive? Shows over everyone is moving on with life, why should anything about your costars come out of your mouth after the fact? I'm sure growing up on the show Emma has had her less than perfect moments and isn't always a ray of sunshine. Working on set sometimes 12, 14, even 16hrs a day you'll get on each others nerves. You'll sometimes say the wrong thing. It's human, it's family. Why open your big mouth about it years after. Totally suspect. Also this to me does not put Emma in a good light. Also if Emmy were a problem, or had a bad attitude why do I only hear compliments from her other costars? Cameron and William have nothing but good things to say about her. And it sounds like Emmy cared enough to give her advice but she just didn't like it. And maybe was hard on her. This could all easily be misconstrued. Really suspect 🤔

Why? Because Emma Kenney is not a good actor and this will probably be the only memorable role she ever has. I agree, a totally unnecessary attitude here, especially knowing how undervalued Rossum was on the show and how hard she had to fight to direct some episodes. My suspicion is that Rossum was probably bossy sometimes and ambitious and maybe demanded more of her costars, but whatever it was it worked because the show was never the same without her.

I find Emma Kenney’s attitude here really unprofessional and annoying. Emmy Rossum was the main draw of the show, she is a great performer, bright and immensely talented. If she was tough on set maybe it’s because that was needed. And maybe the “vibe” became more easy-going for Emma after the stakes had dropped into the toilet along with the ratings. I’m watching season 10 and Emma continues to be the weakest actor in this ensemble.

Can we also factor in the characters these two girls played? They were NOT on a sunshine and rainbows type of show, they were on a show where EXTREMELY dark things happened literally every other scene. It makes perfect sense to me to not be in a happy-go-lucky kind of mood all the time, or even very often at all. Fiona's NOT a happy character, in fact she's a tortured character who has been a victim of her life's circumstances all her life. Idk to what levels Emmy infected everyone else with her negative mood, but if her crime was just being negative or unhappy at ALL then I think that's pretty unfair. It's actually not difficult to be negative in a way that's infectious, like even if you're just quieter than usual or even just a bit snappy, people who know you can pick up on it and it can effect their moods too. Fiona's the type of character where Emmy would BENEFIT having her head in that headspace to play her, and Emma didn't say Emmy was cruel or irrationally unkind, just that Emmy had an infectious negativity and had given her bad advice. Emma is making it seem like it was deliberate bad advice, but we don't have any concept for what that advice was, or what made it bad advice. And whether advice is good or not is almost ENTIRELY subjective. Emma could've considered it bad advice but EMMY could disagree entirely and consider it perfectly reasonable advice. I just don't think anyone should take Emma's perspective alone as "proof" that Emmy is a mean person.

I’ve met Emmy Rossum twice and see on her on set of Shameless and she isn’t very nice to talk to. She’s very curt with people and has no patience. Sometimes she’d snap her fingers at crew or other cast when they weren’t fast enough or messed up a line, then laugh it off like it was a joke. I could tell it made everyone very uncomfortable. Emmy’s lack of patience made her impossible to talk to. But in her defence, she was probably very busy and stressed out from filming (the schedule was very tight). Also her performance as Fiona was always amazing, and her acting in general is always A+. I always wondered why the network was so against giving her a raise (since she was a lead and had always been very good at her job, I felt although she deserved it) and why she didn’t have a lot of work at the time except for Shameless. I hate to say it but it’s likely her attitude and her imitating nature to blame for why she isn’t getting her a lot acting jobs right now. *EDIT:* Just to be clear, I’m not saying that everything that Emma is saying in this video is true. She’s a lot like Emmy; a great actress but has her own issues. I wasn’t on set for very long but from what could see Emmy was snappy because she was tired (for whatever reason) and Emma was a major diva. But an ok diva, if that makes sense. Diva ness comes from other people hyping her up too much and she’s become numb to it. But also feels inferior to her older more experienced co stars. I’m really not surprised to hear her throwing shade at Emmy here.

Typical blaming the child lol sick. And she never said she didn't like her she never even subliminally said it you just made up whatever you wanna believe cause clearly you hate kids... And I must be right about you based off you're own logic. She said good and not so good things about their relationship and mover implied any dislike toward Emmy. You are just crazy.

@@nellae9101 lol. I remember being a kid. I remember my peers. They could be spiteful and jealous and competitive just like adults. Maybe worse. And she's not a kid anymore. She's a grown ass adult running her mouth when she should know better.

I’ve been where Emma describes Emmy as. I felt Emma’s analysis loud and clear and I hope that like me, Emmy has been working to overcome that negative aura. ❤️

It’s crazy how a lot of y’all are upset about her honesty with what she experienced. Yes, Emmy character carried the show but this not about Fiona. It’s about how Emmy would act sometimes off camera and how Emma felt about it. I love that she was honest and not giving robotic answer like everybody else do.

Bad idea to talk smack about other actors - and yes, the show was disappointing when ER left. She was the heart of it.

Same lol. Everybody acting all shocked , but I'm just like, I've dealt with the type and i know the type...they may not be all around bad ppl, but they have some TERRIBLE traits. Emmy gives me that energy. Still a good show tho lol everyone was great lol

People really need to learn to differentiate actor’s from there characters Emma isn’t Debbie and Emmy isn’t Fiona. Just because Debbie always invalidated Fiona and was ungrateful doesn’t mean that’s what Emma was doing here. I’m not saying that it isn’t the case just that you can’t assume it is because that’s what there characters are like

I think its understandable why Emmy was upset those days on set bc of what she was going through but as a little sister whos older sister shares the same age difference with these two I think it's fair to say that Emma probably didn't know how to deal with Emmy being upset over something they both used to love and share with one another. It's sad they dont talk anymore but if its healthier for them then good on them.

It didn't make sense for the character to abandon her family. She was their legal guardian. I missed her on the show.

Emmy Rossum carried the whole show tho. She was the reason I started watching it in first place. And her exit from the show made exit too. It's baffling that she was the main character of the show and didn't even get paid as much as the male actors

I wish we could have seen Fiona flourish. I’m sad we didn’t see her in the last episode of the last season. I also don’t think anyone appreciated Emmy/Fiona on or off the show enough. The reason the show became so positive after she left is because everyone was raised up at that point except for Liam.

This shocks me zero, no shade to Emmy, she was trying to get a career off the ground and it meant a lot to her so I understand some of these emotions. But Emma was a little girl and now she’s an adult and has every right in the world to express herself & speak her truth.
