Every time I see it, I really feel the absent of the side characters. Steve, Mickey, Shelia, Mandy, etc. yet I know if they are brought back their characters will just be shit on. Mickey and Steve.

This show REALLY plays into the old TV trope where at the end of the episode, everything is the same as it was when it starts. Not so formulaic as that, but there is no change. Everyone just rubberbands back to where they were. There is no payoff in the longterm.

I do think the show it getting weaker, but I don't get the whole "doesn't lead anywhere" part. They're poor people who have an extremely unlucky life. It's meant to point out how the craziness of poverty traps people because it's just so normal for them and they struggle to move upwards. It's also pointing out some sad realities of life that can't be wrapped up in an optimistic note. Alcoholics often drink again. Bipolar people relapse. Business ventures fail. Needy families hold you back. Childhood trauma follows you. If you're injured and can't afford good treatment, you take treatment into your own hands. The show isn't about moving up; it's about being stuck in the same place and finding a semblance of happiness there.

I think shameless should have ended on season 5 where Lip goes to college, Ian Joins the Military, Kev And V move out of the projects with their babies, Carl goes to Juvie, Debbie And Liam Go with Kev and V, Frank remains in Chicago alone in the Alibi, and Fiona Runs away with Steve to Costa Rica. This would have been a fitting end. I think everyone would get the ending they deserved. Carl belongs to be in Juvie. He’s one of my favorite characters but from day one he has always been a trouble maker and I think that’s the only fitting end. Also frank deserves to be alone in the Alibi in Chicago. I know this show is more funny and happy than it is dark but I think Frank And Carl are the two characters who don’t really deserve a happy ending. Certain characters like Karen and Steve deserve redemption arcs but not them. They are who they are from S1 E1 and that’s the only appropriate way to end their story. Also Steve is the only interesting and fun to watch character that dated Fiona. He deserves to have a happy life with Fiona. Also I think Tony the Cop should’ve gotten the chance to meet a girl that actually treats him right and he could’ve moved into the old Gallagher home. Also Mickey should stay in jail as well. I love his character and his relationship with Ian but Ian needs to move on and join the military and we knew Mickey would end up in jail one way or another so I would be satisfied with him ending up in jail. That’s pretty much it though. Tell me if you agree or disagree

I am hating season 9...the only interesting story arc right now is Lip's. After Ian left the show it seems the writers are having trouble not having a gay character on the show...so now Debbie, Liam, and even Carl's girlfriend, are being written as potential gay characters. Fiona can't go a scene without trashing men, and her character is also completely trash now, turning her into female Frank. Is this why she is leaving the show? or did the writers do this to her character because she is leaving the show. Kevin and V adopt a kid and he turns out being an illegal immigrant separated from his real family...nice way to spread a false narrative about the actual problems we have with our immigration system. Ian was one of my favorite characters because he actually had depth and a struggle. now the show just seems lost. Frank working both sides of the political zoo is the only thing that makes since in this season, everyone else is completely out of character. Kev is the best character and they are literally trying to neuter him! Situations and plot points come and go and are never addressed again, and writer's seem to think SJW identity politics is what we want...I'm gonna call it right now. Fiona will be whisked away by Jimmy/Steve in the finale. That's the only acceptable ending. Season 10 was also greenlit...

She is getting written out. She's leaving the show. She posted about it on twitter. She is a good actress, but the writers destroyed her character. I thought, at some point, the kids would turn their family around and only Frank would be the POS. But no, Fiona is a female Frank. My biggest gripe with the show right now, aside from Fiona's stupidity, is the non-stop barrage of identity politics, race baiting, and man hating. And why does everyone have to be gay? I have zero problems with the gay people, but having to watch a show where half the cast is either questioning their sexuality or gay is getting old, and it's a plot thread in sooooo many TV show's these days. This show also lost all consequence. By that I mean, the characters decisions don't seem to carry from episode to episode very well. The early seasons were fantastically written. The writing, starting in season 6, was awful, boring, and it seemed random. Each season had 1 good plot thread with a bunch of random filler surrounding it.

I’m currently on s9 and lip is the only character I genuinely care about. I've just finished watching the first two seasons of the UK show, and the first 3 of the American. For me, the UK version is more compelling, as the characters and situations seem somewhat probable. The American version has prettier actors, and much higher production values.

I think that the First Shameless Univers with the Milkovich, the Jackson has come to an end in season 4, most of those 2nd place character as gone after or while season 4 and 5 so it's kind of difficult to continue Shameless after the departure of these caracter. But, they was replaced by as good caracter, i mean personnaly, i've loved Sean Pierce, Trevor, Youens, and so many 2nd place caracter. So I desagree, shameless i still a damn good show !

I started shameless in 2021, I thought I was in for a awesome journey watching this family grow up. Episode 1 I fell in love with the show. But as each season came by I realized it was getting disappointing and stupid. So many wasted potential with characters. Lip got married to one of the worse characters on the show. Also he didn’t get a good job with his intelligence. Carl,Frank,Fiona and Mickey were like the best part of the show. Couldn’t stand Debbie when she was teenager to now. Ian was a mix. He can be really unlikeable at times. The last 2 seasons Ian was decent. Kevin and Veronica idk what happened to them. They basically were had there own side show after like season 5 I think. I wasn’t interested in there life one bit. When I first saw Kevin episode 1 I thought he was some cool badass white thug. But he turned out to be a soft moron. I don’t care that they made him stupid. But he was such a Pussy. I don’t think he hurt a fly the whole show. plot holes were everywhere. Characters disappear, like I was really expecting Samantha,chucky and Fiona to come at the end. That was heart breaking

I enjoyed the later seasons...but some critiques I have is the absence of many side characters. And then some of the overly woke stuff thrown in their...shameless used to be the complete opposite of hyper woke ideas. Idk. That scene with trevor and ian meeting a bunch of people from his LGBT centre at the restaurant. Was insane. LGBT people are not like that. There was some other aspects that felt overly woke like hollywood trying to be progressive and understanding getting real people.

At least season 6 was still eventful and decent. I'm glad I kept watching after 8 because It's still one of my favorite shows and I wanted to finish the entire series/story.
