The problem is that he no longer has the kind of health an athlete needs to play at this level. That hasn't affected his performance level when he plays, but it does affect his availability. With Kawhi - The question that comes to my mind is he the same as Leon Lett was with the media during Dallas Cowboys Super Bowls in the 90's? Meaning very uncomfortable talking publicly. It's widely known, The Olympic coverage will be massive with media/reporters from all over the world. Did Kawhi not want to have to deal with that?? Was he ever on any of the USA Olympic teams in the past (I don't follow NBA much)? Hopefully it's nothing mentally, such as not having a slight phobia.

I think he for sure got spoiled holding out with the Spurs and then his ring in Toronto gave him an IN to run the Clippers franchise unfortunately he is not able to play full seasons + playoffs anymore so their fault on some level but dude should not keep asking for max money when he isn't that guy anymore
