I mean, they definitely didn't want to work on his movie, but to say they were flipping burgers isn't fair. This is Pittsburg, not LA or New York. There isn't a big acting culture there, and most people who are acting in films aren't doing so as their main job. They specifically brought up a professor who's up for tenure...likely teaching something related to film. Other actors in the area are probably working in theater productions, or doing it as a passion in their off time. If they were out of work actors, or even just flipping burgers, Shane wouldn't have had such a hard time casting. But the level of desperation to get into acting just isn't there in Pittsburg.

@@DontTakeThisSeriously616 hey, I don't know what your gender is so I'm sorry if I'm assuming to explain this, but as a woman it's a very universal experience to have this done to you in this very specific way. You explain yourself clearly to a man, he acts like it doesn't make sense and looks for confirmation in other men ("do you understand what she's saying?") as if the conversation wasn't with you, as if to say "see? Neither of us get what you're saying, so you're wrong". It's kind of hard to put in words, but the objective is to make you seem irrational, over-emotional and crazy. A gaslighting thing that historically men have done to women for a very long time. Some men don't even realize they do this (much like mansplaining), but I think his manipulative ass is very conscious of this and is actively trying to mess with her head. Don't know if I made myself clear enough, but this is something a lot of women relate to so I don't think it's a stretch. On a side note, Shane Dawson is, in fact, a mysoginistic asshole even if you don't read this particular situation as a man looking for other man's support to gaslight a woman into thinking she's in the wrong here.

In case anyone hasn't heard, Shane Dawson had a podcast years ago with Lauren from the show as a co-host. I think it was called Shane & Friends. She had announced she was leaving the show because she was getting married and moving on with her life. She proceeded to explain that during her HONEYMOON Shane was texting her bothering her (he's laughing condescendingly while she's genuinely upset). And you know how long the wedding/honeymoon/etc took? ONE WEEK. He couldn't leave Lauren alone for a week that's supposed to be one of the best times of your life because he needed to make his problematic podcast. Shane threatened not to pay her for her time as well even though she needed that money (prob another reason she left tbh). People only talk about the "sexy baby" and "SA cat" comments from the podcast, but it's full of comments that are so foul.

Antisocial Socialite No one said anything about him being a predator. It’s his tendency to be a diva, his inability to take criticism, and his overall difficulty working with people who want to help him. As someone who was grossed out back then when Shane was being awful, it was a part of the culture a la South Park and Family Guy. Those were cultural touchstones during the mid 00s to early 10s. Troll culture was in full swing. Ffs, does no one remember Mr. Hands and Two Girls One Cup? Cause that was internet culture "humor" at the time. Or the "firing mah lazars" thing which was steeped in anti black racism. There were many people who hated those shows and thought they were harmful, but people still found them "funny" or "acceptable". It is not an excuse for the behavior, but an explanation when it comes to the "culture back then". People like Shane got away with his nonsense because people did not care about punching down or being genuinely vile because seeing others squirm was soooooo hilarious to them. The early 10s were when "snowflakes" and "sjws" were first coined when there started to be a vocal group of people calling out others on "shock humor". People have always actively boycotted Shane's content and he was always a divisive subject during his sketch "comedy" """days.""" But the internet moves fast and stuff gets buried quick so people don't care or even remember the old scandals if they weren't personally affected by it. That's how Shane got new fans and kept the uncaring ones.

If directors never take things out of movies, then what are “director’s cut” editions?
@RedEllana4 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. I work in the movie industry as a sound recordist, it is CONSTANTLY that we film things that unfortunately doesn't make the cut. It's also the entire point of "deleted scenes" added to DVDs and such haha. "Kill your darlings" is the first rule of writing. Sometimes entire part of a script are erased on THE DAY we're suppose to film them. Because it doesn't work. Shane clearly didn't know anything, he's the kind of guy that get really anal about his actors saying EXACTLY the lines he wrote, no matter if they actually come up with better more emotional/funny things. A shame. Also wow, I would've quit this set so fast. I mean I worked with assholes before, but very rarely to that level.
@TVLaneyyy4 жыл бұрын
directors cuts are typically a longer version of the film with every creative decision made by the director. in the movie business films are typically paid for by production companies which have final say to the length and scenes that make the cut or not.
