@@jomassey4207 - There are those who will do anything to bring down the government. They drive serious divisions across NZ society. Ban the stay at home dole and replace it with if you become unemployed then go to your local council for 3 - 8 hour days of work per week for $555.60 minimum wage and treated exactly like every other worker in NZ with the same rights that then gives you 4 days to find something else if you don't want to work there, any 3 days in a row of the seven, jobs like clean up parks weeding helping the council do council work doc work water way cleanups etc, if they are treated like workers then things will change and no more get the dole buy alcohol, smokes and hang around the streets or just bludging.

It's been tried before. I was involved with someone these attempts in agriculture on the east coast. We people are forced to turn up who don't want to be there they cause more damage than the value of their work. They damaged plants, machinery and caused trouble for the supervisors who were just trying to get on with the job and had other people to supervise who wanted to work. In the end we had to get rid of them becuase you can't make some work who does not want to. They become a danger to everyone else.

Yeah its been done before, they try to sabotage it, that is fine, they then needed to have extra tasks given thats where you start seeing them pick up that rock and move it over there, now move it back, repeat, when they ask to go back to their other job, since they arnt being paid as they are now a labourer apprentice on a contracted compromise of wage, and longer hours. Good luck with all that! I worked for myself and would see my beneficiary neighbours getting ready for a days recreational fishing or whatever else while I exhausted myself and the IRD and ACC punished me for having a go. My accountant was a pipeline to the IRD. Instead of paying good tradespeople properly they’d import them from overseas. The Christchurch rebuild was a great example of that. I fled across the ditch, never to return and haven’t regretted it for a minute. The opportunities were endless and the money worthwhile. I can’t blame them for taking the dole and doing side gigs, as any work available was likely to yield just enough to go back to work the next week with no real gain. Can’t imagine things have improved in the subsequent 13 years. Fantastic place for the already wealthy to retire though, if you don’t mind a bit of crime.

What needs to be done is to put in place to limit the inflation of the cost of living. A good place to start is renting a place to live. We are trying to keep inflation at 1 to 3% - this should be applied to the cost of renting a property in NZ, A new 2bedroom apartment in Auckland, Greenlane, Epsom, costs $700,000 and at 3% would be $400 a week rent- but at $650 per week which is what people are paying, is taking its toll on the economy.
