He grew up in Pomona, California. I know people who went to school with him, and grew up with him. I remember going to the Restaurant his family owned in Pomona, I'm not sure If they still own it, but I remember meeting his dad. His dad was very nice to us, he came up to me, my sister and cousin, and introduced himself. We knew it was his dad. He looks just like his dad, his dad was a very handsome man. They had a "Mural" painted of him outside of the restaurant. Shane probably continued to fight beyond his prime, because his wife took so much from him, and he had to recover some money! It's really hard for me to feel sorry for him, and men like him, who marry women outside of their race, and make them rich, instead of recycling their money amongst their own people. There was a lot of black girls in Pomona in love with him, even before he became a boxer, and if he had married one of those girls, I doubt if they would have ripped him off, and he would probably still be married to her, because it was true love, but he probably thought those girls were not good enough for him!
