Many newer techs just haven't had the experience or training on why the little details are so important. Something as simple as knowing that dirty hands while installing stick on wheel weights will never make for a good match, is often not considered until it's learned to the hard way through failure. Pass this video on toy your new employees or a friend just starting out!
If I can ever be of service to you, here is a video explains how to connect with me.

www.How2Wrench.com broke the mold of the delivery of tech training. We offer professional tech training over the phone. Your shop, your schedule. If you have Apple products, we can even provide guided assistance over Facetime. (I suggest asking a friend to borrow theirs now!)
Imagine this… you’re in your shop wrenching away and you get stuck. You just hit a wall and no matter how hard you try, you can’t find a next step. You reach for the phone and hit speed dial. The number saved in your favorites is your personal coach at How2wrench! No sitting through hours of KZbin videos, websites or giving up!
You can schedule time with a veteran technician to walk you through what you’re wrenching on. You can email info, photos and details directly to trainer. It’s the next closest thing to us sitting right next to you.
This service is intended to fill the gap in many areas of need. Let me list a few:
The DIY person needing help with a specific skill
A tech just needing an advanced lesson or next step in their knowledge base
Someone who would give anything to drop everything and move to a tech school but life just didn’t deal those cards. They understand the learning curve may take longer but are relentless in their desire to learn.
Observant parents lacking the skill sets to teach their kids mechanics but see them craving to use tools and their hands.

I tried looking in my service manual but I couldn’t find an answer I was looking for. Does it matter which side the wheel weights go on?
@bmfilmnut
@bmfilmnut 2 ай бұрын
I've found that tape is a good idea but I leave it on just long enough for the weight adhesive to bond and cure. Otherwise, even with wheels that have been perfectly cleaned with alcohol, the weights often will simply fall off until the adhesive really bonds. I take the tape off 10 or 20 minutes later. As most know, once wheel weights bod to the wheel, it's actually difficult to remove them so tape isn't necessary. That said, I'm not talking about race bikes.

I would like to add that if you ride in the rain that water will get pumped up under any lip thats left unmated or stuck down to the wheel causing the weight to lift and disbond.

@@SimonWoodburyForget because 2 different times on more then one wheel mine came off while driving in the rain just after install. never had any come off before the rain incidents or since and while the adhesive might not be the water being pumped under that lip when driving through water at hwy speeds is probably have the same force as lifting it up with your fingers.

Okay I have afew questions? Why not use a internal weight like trucks use. And this one why wont motorcycle repair shops only work on some brands and not others. I have a 2020 icebear mojo magic 150cc trike with a four stoke engine. So far is been nice but I'm not a mechanic at all. Plus I'm disabled and have hard time getting up and down. Just looking for somebody to help maintain it. And do stuff I really can't do. But no shops in Canton Ohio will touch. Why is that?

Mullaway. There are many types and styles. Many OEM's use a clip on style. Using one not designed for that brand of wheel design could easily result in it falling off. The best practice would be to use the wheel weight from the manufacture and it not sure, follow the video recommendations. Have you subscribed yet to never miss a video? I think these wheel weights are completely useless. I've never had these ever stay on no matter what type you get.
@venbas2
@venbas2 5 жыл бұрын
Second that...after a proper outing in the rain or hot sun these weights always seem to slide into oblivion when I am back to the garage...so unless there is a problem of vibrations where there should have been none, we can just live with some minor imperfections in the weights and rotate the tires to balance the wear and tear

Shane, ever heard of splitting the wheels weights, in a tri y type shape, only placing them at the Y ends? splitting them about 25 or 30 degrees apart? Woody's wheel shop in Denver used to do that, said it was an Indy Car thing?

Lazy to not remove the wheel and properly balance the wheel assembly. Wheel balance always changes as the tire wears. This repair is a bit of a hack.

David Mellor It’s seems as if you didn’t watch the entire video or missed the annotation the we removed the wheel and balanced. It also appears you completely missed the point on how strongly I recommend not only to balance the wheel but to do it in a fashion that it stays balanced...SMH
