Someone on Amazon commented, cut the tube on the lube can on an angle with a razor knife and it will be super easy to insert into the tools lube port. Sounds logical to me.

Graet tool that I will get myself to make sure the lube goes all the way around the cable and not only slide down one side. Thank you Shane. 👍😎👍 🏁🏁🏁

FYI I don't have that tool, but I cut the corner out of a baggy and slip it over the cable and the shaft. Then I get 2-3 of the smallest zip ties and tighten around the shaft in a couple of places. Squirt the lube in and prop up the baggy so the fluid drains onto and in the cable and it doesn't spill. Works like a charm.

^This. Let gravity do the work. And the real benefit: you can use any lubricant you want (not just oil available in an aerosol can)

So wait, is it easier to detach where the clutch meets the engine and do it there? Or at the handle bar? I own my first bike and don’t have any mechanic or friends that own bikes to help. Wondering if I’ll have to learn how to adjust the clutch alongside doing this for maintenance. I know I need to learn how anyways

Just bought this luber. I agree that it is a great cable luber. But it does have one limitation. For any cable that may have a clevis permanently installed on the end of a cable, this will not work because the clevis will not fit inside the luber. For that kind of cable, you need to older, leaky V2 luber.

Appreciate the info. I love having the correct tools for a job. However, I don't feel the need for one of these when working on my Harley's. I always just insert the nozzle between the cable and the casing, wrap a shop towel around and spray. Works great and no overspray.
@How2Wrench4 жыл бұрын
Fair enough! Whatever works for you to get the job done. On my 03 bagger I don't think there would be room on its cables but I'll check next time out of curiosity. @@How2Wrench Hi! So did you ever try the tool on your Harley? I work on a lot of them, and it looks like it would be very useful. However, I suspect the large eyelet on the Harley clutch cable may not fit into the tool. Also, the throttle/ idle cables have large elbows on them up at the grip end. All that being said, later model Harley clutch cables (not sure maybe 2007 and up?) do not require lube as they have Teflon sleeves inside which may be compromised by lube, and there fore it's not recommended. Ditto for some aftermarket throttle/idle cables, but I'm not sure about Harley's throttle/idle cables. Yes, earlier model's clutch,throttle and idle cables must be lubed, just not sure if the tool will fit?
