When using this tool while the clutch cable is still on the bike, do not do what I did and just slip the rubber gasket over the cable head and around the cable. It must scoot down over the black hard rubber/plastic cable sleeve. If not, and when you begin to spray the lube, the lube will escape out the bottom of the v3 device. A proper seal is critical. So if lubing the cable on the bike, highly suggest using a rag around the blue housing just in case of leakage. I also place a towel over the entire handlebar areas and shop towels down by the clutch basket exit. I would also recommend checking your clutch lever for smooth play. If there is any resistance or gitty feel, just go ahead and remove the clutch lever from the bike and clean out the clutch housing and lube it with some white lithium grease. Mine was gritty and after a good wipe down and coating of grease, it is back to smooth operation. Have fun. And remember not to snort the Cable Lube!!

No wonder I had issues. I left the plunger down and as I sprayed it rose really quick, but nothing was getting into the cable housing. Now that I think about it, I think I had the black rubber piece around the cable, not the housing. I'll give it another try tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Chase, i have a question. I have a Yamaha FZ6 that i need the throttle cables to be lubed, but my bike cables at the throttle grip end, has some sort of plastic ending in contrast to yours in the video that are just the striaght cable. I still can use this V3? i assume the regular Cable Luber doesnt work at all but i dont know about this one. Thanks.

Works well. Only comment is the red tube from the lube can is very difficult to insert in the rubber hole. Hole is a bit too small. Also the plunder "didn't really plunge" after lubing the cable. Other than that worked fine for the clutch cable. However it won't work on a Ténéré T700 for the throttle cable as on both throttle cables there are pins set 90 deg from the cable that are about 2mm too long for the blue cap to fit over the throttle cables. I should have kept my previous cable luber.

How much is that piece of plastic? The old motion pro luber I almost ordered last month was 25$. The bike master was 9$ for a all metal one I ordered that one.
@marknasia52934 жыл бұрын
Talon i have both, the motion pro V3 hands down is better, and not seeing how the metal is helping as the seal on the motion pro is much better even when the cable diameters are slightly different size, it is less messy. Then again, people could avoid the entire cost and submerge their cable in a large plastic sandwich bag with cable lube sealed inside the bag, then place the bag into am ultrasonic jeweler cleaner, where the lube is in the plastic sealed bag and the bag is in the ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, after it vibrates for about a few minutes, lube will be everywhere then only necessary to wipe the outside of the cable down. But then you have to pay way more for the ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, but then again, i have unfroze cables using that method, sometimes the price of a new cable is the best purchase, but still will need to lube it.
@tempestandacomputer69514 жыл бұрын
I looked this up needing it for my clutch cable. How will I know when my throttle cable needs lubing too? More skeptical of doing this as i have a carburated klr650.

I always let my cables hang for a day or so after doing this to let all of the excess run out. Otherwise, you'll have it leaking out onto your bike/motor.

Do this on the bike with a dirty crudded cable, bet its notcas simple as you show it here. I'm guessing there's a lot of blow back from that 'seal's and messy leaks.

@marknasia52934 жыл бұрын
Malcolm Till good point, but for a froze cable, ultrasonic jewelry cleaner is the tool to un-freeze it. Then the cable lube is a less messy way to get it properly lubed. The whole point of the tool is to make it easy enough to lube while on the bike by removing the control handle side and cleaning up the little lube that drips at the end of the cable.
@kirkjohnson93534 жыл бұрын
@@marknasia5293 I like your ultrasonic idea. I recently bought a fixer that may need that treatment. First I will try the water bottle method. Drill a hole in the cap of a water bottle that the cable slips into TIGHTLY. Then put spray lube into the water bottle , place the cap, and squeeze the bottle to pressurize the cable. I recently did this and actually forced some sand out of a frozen cable that now works like new.

If this works even a little better than the old type - which usually just dumped lube all over the place - it's worth it. Who's got one?
@marknasia52934 жыл бұрын
East Coast Wolf i have one, and yes far better than the other i had, the older one was Oxford brand cable lube tool but same as the old motion pro one. The v3 motion pro is seriously much better, better seal, and for periodic maintenance so easy to unhook the cable from the handlebars and get some lube on the cable and use a paper towel to catch the lube that drips out. So easy i now regularly lube my cables, real key is the lube made by motion pro, it is perfect for preventing binding, freezing, gunk etc. I would recommend the V3 Motion Pro, unless it is a gift for someone you don’t like, then the older one will work..

Mike Smith I had both versions of the old style luber. 1 had only 1 tightening bolt and the other has 2 tightening bolts. The only one to work was the 1 with 1 bolt in it.
