I don't understand how some people find Awkwafina annoying. I absolutely love how you can feel her insecurity in her acting. She genuinely doesn't know how funny she is and is apologizing all the time. It's endearing. I'd only ever start to dislike her if she figured it out and started acting like she was the shit.

You do realize that he's had her in his movies, right - as an action star? She often cites him as the main motivator for her getting started in Hong Kong in that capacity. Jackie is infamous for getting his co-stars to do their own stunts. He's be the last person to discourage her. Michelle has a ballet background. That statement alludes to the fact she needed training during her early years - which he does and she excels in. Context matters.
