She grew up in a generation where she heard even better song lyrics on the radio and was inspired. This cross-generational learning is weakening from decade to decade. Today, kids are inspired by bad song lyrics, which can lead to even more rubbish being produced. I won't even start on AI. At the time I didn't know who Shania Twain was because I was only 5-6 years old, I just remembered a select few lyrics and a pretty woman on red and green CDs. Coming back and hearing Shania Twain all over again feels surreal, because not only is she a great singer and beautiful, but it reminds of one of the very few good memories I had with my mother growing up.

+Adolfo Lapatky Did she really sing pop or did they just edit most of her songs to be played on the radio and increase sales for her albums? (I feel like that's what happened to Taylor Swift before she just went complete pop)

Been searching for this song for maybe almost 2 decades. I remember seeing the music video as a kid and liked it but never knew what song it was. Recently heard this song in a store and was excited because my search is over. Glad I found it.

I remember myself being a big fan of Shania Twain in the late 90's. I am still a huge fan. Her latest album "Now" was different from her earlier stuff musically but I still love the album very much. I have also started to love "Up" even more. One of the reasons to love Shania is her positive lyrics and melodies. "Up!" has only one song about heart-break. Most of her songs are much fun. They bring smile to my face when I am down. When I listen to Shania I know "I'm Gonna Get Some Good!". She lost her voice in some point, she had a divorce and still "Now" is a very optimistic album about future. Of course there are songs about heartbreak but most artists would have cried through the album. Another country artist Sara Evans also had a divorce, her songs were much sadder after that. It is still OK because we all experience sad things in a different way. This song is maybe my favorite Shania Twain song and one of my favorite songs of 2000's.

The song has been used for a couple of Fran Fine / Maxwell Sheffield (The Nanny) fan videos, and if you're familiar with the show, you can see how it fits (although, Fran wasn't always as confident as this song sounds). And, Fran and Shania even look somewhat alike!

I fell in love with this song when I was 15. The girl I liked at school sent me a text and asked if I was listening to the radio. I said that I was and the next thing I hear is the DJ saying this song was requested by her to me. First time in my life I genuinely felt butterflies. We started going out the next day. It didn't last of course. We went our separate ways before college, but it's definitely one of my fondest memories.

I remember seeing this on CMT as a young kid in the early 2000's. I was big into country music at the time, and I thought this music video was just the coolest thing ever. 20-ish years later I'm a metal head into mecha anime and, I'm not gonna lie, this still slaps. 🤘
