Shania was a late 1990s early 2000s pop/country goddess! She has some of the catchiest tunes ever and when she first broke onto the music scene country stations, especially here in Nashville, refused to play her music, because they said she wasn't country. But she got so popular that they ended up having to play her because they were losing listeners. Her music was great fun to dance to in the country two-step/line dancing clubs and even the gay clubs here in Nashville back in that time period.

I've been a fan of hers since the first time I heard her. She has a vocal range that's easy to sing along with. This album had 3 CDs. One country, one pop/rock, and one a world beat. I love the line, "You're a fine piece of real estate and I'm gonna get me some land.". Thanks for letting me hear this one again.

Shania has sold a few records. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) marks the sale of 1,000,000 albums as a platinum album. A diamond certified album 10 times that amount (or 10,000,000 albums). Shania's "Come On Over" album was one of the first albums to be awarded this designation when the RIAA introduced this level of certification in 1999. Oh, and her ex-husband pronounces his last name with a hard "G"

Just put it this way .. My thing is usually classic rock .. but I do have a Shania Twain CD of her 90's tunes. Her genre is not "completely" country to me. Ur right Salvo .. she does have some rock type music in her music. I love her catalog, epic melodically & lyrically. I'm tryna decide if I like her older stuff better. I don't wanna be to quick about it since I've learned she recently had to have throat surgery which she feels changed her voice some. So it hasn't been long since she's been back on scene. This particular tune .. I was taken back. I absolutely love it. Also I didn't notice a big diff in her voice but it did seem like she was holding back a lil, understandably. One song I really love lyrically is "The Woman In Me" Maybe one day you could react to that one. Thnx adding this vid to my playlist .. this is one ya gotta watch. They did a jam up job on this vid. 🙂🤘🏼

This is one of my favorite Shania songs! The album that it comes from, "Up!," had three versions of all of the songs, a pop version, country version, and Indian version. Each one was it's own CD. It was really just the instruments used for each one. I prefer the country version. It's not that different from this pop version, but I still prefer it. Glad you loved it! A romantic song from her second album is The Woman in Me (Needs the Man in You). Check that one out for a change of pace. Her voice is beautiful.
@davidgiles59125 ай бұрын
From your reaction to the first song I thought you might like the Pop version of the song. The Green or Country version has more country instrumentation and I have the Blue CD or the Bollywood version with cymbals, drums and flutes. The Blue has been in HEAVY ROTATION in the past few weeks in the CD player. KZbin has all three CDs available for listening.

Her then husband Mutt Lange had a lot to do with the success of this song as well as all the rest of the music he helped write and produce for her. He is widely regarded as one of the most successful rock producers of all time and did just as well when he turned his attention to country. Take a look at all the legendary platinum albums he’s produced and it will blow your mind.

The "Up" album has 3 versions. North America got both the "red disc" (pop version) and the "green disc" (country version) when buying the CD. The international version included the "red disc" (pop version) and "blue disc" (world version). The song "Party for Two" is a duet; the pop version features Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray; and the country version features Billy Currington. It might make a fun video to listen to both versions of "Party for Two" and see which you prefer. @@no1takethisname Yes along with "Whose Bed Has Your Boots Been Under" and "Dance With The One Who Brought You" (with Charles Durning as the older version of the man) are her first hits BUT SalvoG has only been introduced to Shania with "Man I Feel Like A Woman" so he is a new listener to her music. This was the second song of Shania that he listened to. Just like with the artist kd lang, his first reaction and exposure to her was the duet with Roy Orbison on the song "Crying" which was over 10 years after her first hits on Canadian radio and several albums under her belt.
