Well, then you've obviously only been listening to Mariah's most recent albums. Try checking out Emotions, Music Box, Daydream, or Butterfly. (Emotions is more of R&B; Music Box, Daydream, and Butterfly are more pop.) Mariah has sung quite a few genres in her career, so don't say she isn't flexible and only sings hip hop.
