I love how in that one scene with Shanks, it already gives you an an idea how strong he is, or at least was before he last his arm. Hawk eye saying he's not going to "settle things" tells us they've fought before, and implies that Shanks BEAT him, or at least came to a draw. With who's known as the strongest swordsman and who we saw manhandled Don Krieg's ship. Damn.

@@lukejohnston6614 Yes, Panda-Man appeared all the time in the manga. However the carpenter was an afterthought ONE TIME after Oda mistakenly repaired a door that was broken in a previous panel. He basically just made a goofy design in the SBS question corner because a fan was pointing out his mistake. Sure, he gave the carpenter a relative in Wano but other than that the carpenter didn't even have an official showing in the manga until that point.

For @iShinobi: Loguetown is a play on words - It was the prologue AND epilogue of Gol D Roger's journey as he was both born and executed there. It's even spelt with the "ue" as to differentiate it from the wooden "log" and ensure the meaning is understood. There are a lot of these double meanings in One Piece - a lot of time, effort and care was put into everything - including names, It's also the prologue for the Straw Hat pirates' journey as the last stop before they enter the Grand Line. I suspect Luffy will return there at the very end of the story, as I also suspect he will either die or disappear into the sunset as his journey comes to a close.

In real life Navy and Marines are different things, they're just interchangeable in the world of One Piece is all. Typically how it is viewed is: The Navy is the military itself, and the marines are the individual soldiers. And again... NOBODY has died so far. Arlong and Buggy are still alive. The only dead people so far are in flashbacks. One Piece just isn't a "droppin' bodies left and right" series.

I believe this is the last time you’ll see Fullbody for a while, so I’ll tell what happens to lower the future confusion. Django was left at Syrup Village without his crew and was chased of by the veggies, he then ended up on a disco island that I forget the name of, there are some marines searching for him and he meets and befriends Fullbody without the knowledge of who each other where. Django was found and a trial was held for him, in which Django and Fullbody danced so well, the judge started dancing, and told the two that if Fullbody was demoted to the lowest rank in the navy and Django joined him, he would be let free. They are now under a marine Captain Hina. There may be some mistakes I made since this is going off of my memory, so if there are, someone please correct me

As for the Marine/Navy thing, whenever both subs appear they're always referred to as "Kaigun" The force is closer to more of what we would consider a navy, but Oda chose the word marine for his romanization. Bottom line, you can say whatever you want lol

I'm curious, do you plan to watch through the filler arcs or skip them? There aren't that many, certainly not nearly as many as in Naruto, but the first one is coming. They're okay I guess so not a big deal to watch through them, but generally a step down the manga material (with a couple exceptions, one filler arc in particular that's really quite good).

this first filler arcs a bit of an oddity as well, it has a few good scenes like stuff with the calm belt, but then theres also a few mistakes due to not having odas involvement like zoro claiming he can cut steel. i think after this one they made sure not to do anything that would be contradictory by consulting oda first at least though

One Piece writing makes fillers one of the things that if done properly can produce best shounen fillers because of possible set-ups, add good writing. Im still for this day to say proud that G8 filler arc is better than Foxy later on and if no info i would assume that Foxy was more "fillery" than G8. Other shounens need to stop plot to fillers but One Piece it's just another island and production + writing = Telling One more story in Grand Line/New world. Heck Im willing One Piece to go like Boruto way, half year fillers and half of manga. Like why not insert filler arc from Zoe to Wano and then use faster pacing.

Yes, they leave an island and arc is ended but the story of the arc is not ended, most characters will be back at some point in the future, some of them as a crucial part of the story. That's really cool about One Piece, at first glance it looks like buch of separate stories, but they are all just small parts of one big story, you are basically getting pieces of the puzzle and with enough pieces you start to see how they fit in the bigger picture - one piece xD

A bounty in One Piece is the way to set which pirates are better than others. But a bounty doesn't carry just the power of the pirate like in Dragon Ball, it has the power and achivements and the captain is usually the one with the highest bounty, is how strong they are and what have they done and are able to do to get that bounty, and a novice pirate like Luffy getting that bounty for his first bounty was never seen before.

the whole "Navy/Marines" thing can be a bit confusing: the Japanese original uses the word "kaigun" which translates to Navy in English. but the mangaka also used the word "Marine" in the logo of that faction, which is likely meant to be the German word for Navy since he also used "Möwe" (German for seagull) in some instances. "marine" can also be used as a general term for a naval soldier rather than specifically the USMC kind. ultimately, it doesn't really matter. Navy is a valid translation, but most modern translations use Marines instead to avoid confusion since that's what it says on their logo.

During the hostage situation Luffy explains to Zoro that he is the leader, that he is expecting him to follow and he does this through his actions. When they say Marine here, they always either mean a low class group of Navy members or a general base, like the Marines on Nami's island. The Navy has higher ranked members outside of the Marines, Admirals, Captains and whatnot. Also don't miss those trees on the ship bro. I'll also argue that it's been explained that Shank's crew is constantly travelling between the grand line and east blue, for reasons. No crew could take that constant travel easily. In fact to make so many travels they can't take the normal safeish way either.
