One of my biggest takeaways is that it truly is lonely at the top. I’ve learned in my life that often times people who achieve greatness, at some point had to leave people behind. I think that they make a concerted effort to be the absolute best at any cost and in the case of Michael Jordan we’ve witnessed an extreme case of that. Even now, to put out a documentary all these years later that is being considered by some to be the greatest sports documentary ever, we’re seeing the lengths that Jordan continues to go through in order to further catapult himself into the sports pantheon of greatness. Personally I don’t care for how Scottie was portrayed and I would never do that to any of my ride or die teammates, but I’m not great. And I think that that’s the point. We as a society treat greatness as though it is something that should be strived for and what we should be learning is that greatness, according to how we define it, comes at a cost. And so maybe Jordan is the greatest basketball player ever. But look at the cost that has come with it. He probably doesn’t have any true friends, any real moments that he’ll be able to look back on in life when he’s an old man and share in laughs with people who truly revere him (outside of his kids maybe). So to me I just think that the whole Lebron/ MJ thing can be best looked at as a sort of cautionary tale for Lebron. Because if being the greatest means you have to do whatever it takes in order to achieve that feat I’d be willing to bet that Lebron wouldn’t choose to be great. Because I think that his humanity is such that he truly cares about others more than he cares about himself. And we’ve learned that that simply isn’t the case with Michael. Sad to say because i grew up the biggest MJ fan you’ll ever meet. But now that I’m older and can sit back and look at my own life and see the lessons that I’ve learned, I can now see the value in cultivating true friendships and simply in being considerate and thoughtful and kind. So yeah, MJ is the greatest basketball player of all time but Lebron James is a much much better person and if I’m him I’d take that over the former every day of the week.

Shannon Sharpe would've been like Toni Kukoc or Horace Grant to MJ. Therefore what Shannnon wouldve taken issue with is irrelevant.

I actually agree with Shannon here (a very rare occurrence). I would have had a MAJOR issue with Jordan's leadership style as well. This is coming from a guy who's favorite player is MJ.

Being a leader in football is different than in basketball when the offense roster is different than the defensive roster

and a real leader, the situation doesnt matter. MJ doesnt sound like he could be a good leader in real life.

It doesn't matter the sport, anybody who says I can't eat or calls me out my name gotta square up. That's not leadership. Leadership is leadership regardless of occupation.

Onyx Prime imagine somebody from the offensive roster telling you an offensive player how to play or vice versa . Some NFL players even admit to not knowing the names of the defensive line up when there from a offensive lineup. In the Nba each player knows each and sees each other everyday while in the nfl some don’t even know each other or even interact. I’m saying this to say Shannon is coming from a different perspective and doesn’t understand that leadership works different in different sports
