I only made it a few months using rolled up towels. They’re okay for larger curves, but I was cranking out face masks, and it was just so difficult! So a tailor’s ham raced up to the top of my sewing tools Wishlist, and I made sure to get one as soon as I could. Good decision on my part- I live my tailors ham. Now I just need a sausage or a sleeve board. I’m thinking a wooden sleeve board because I can also make it do double duty as a clapper. Also, I really appreciate your dedication to the puns. It’s right up there with Morgan Donner’s Chemise a la Reine-bow.

Oh yay, I'm so glad you received it!! I recommend stuffing with the finest sawdust you can get your hands on - I used sawdust that was nearer to wood shavings (just because that was all that was available to me) and it worked well, but did slowly compress over time, and I'm due to open it up and top the shavings back up... which, actually, I will be completely emptying it out and refilling it with the sawdust from making my sewing table, which is kinda fun. But that's my recommendation, otherwise I LOVE my hams, and use them all the freaking time!

Love the end products, but enjoyed the puns even more! 😂 I made my own sleeve roll a while ago, but haven’t been thrilled with it. I like your extra layer of fabric, and I guess I just need to stuff it even more! Sawdust would have been a better choice in hindsight, but I had the pine shavings, so I used it! 😅

Ahahah, glad you liked it! Having stuffed mine with sawdust that was bordering on being shavings (size-wise), I definitely have to say that pounding the everloving daylight out of it while stuffing it was a big help. And even so, it's currently (15 months after creation) a bit deflated, so I've actually saved the sawdust from making my sewing table --video out next week 😉 -- and am planning on re-stuffing both tools with the finer grade sawdust.

If you happen to live where they have a Home Depot, they instantly collect any saw dust that is produced by cutting lumber in the machine that does the cutting. They just throw it away and have happily, if curiously, given it to me for free. That was what I used to fill my not as fancy or funny ham.

Yes, great tip! Someone else in my local Buy Nothing group (where I asked for this sawdust) said the same thing! Big thanks for posting it for others to see, because it's a great free source! (the only potential downside being there might be some treated lumber particles in it)
