wow she is amazing, the way she explained it I could understand it totally. Normally it is harder for me to grasp on the idea that we don't really have an inherently existent "I" Thanks so much for this video and hope that everyone can watch it and understand it/feel it

When you suggested that we see our body and mind dissolve into small particles, I had an image of infinite space filled with similar particles of all other beings, and they touched and “floated” around together. And it felt like an awareness of the interconnectedness of us all.

yes, I think that is the feeling that shows you got the idea :)

Yes, yes. Then look at that "interconnectedness" It is all pure "energy" beyond labels.

-Thank you for this video. I could not find an "I" in my mind or body. However, there was a blind, restless striving for life, existence and self-assertion. Something constantly wishing and never being satisfied. This restless striving for life did not feel singular, but universal. An underlying reality behind the mind and body and the cause of anything existing at all.

Well, there is your "I" just right in the beginning of your sentence "I could not find an "I" in my mind or body." It has been there all along. Sometimes the things we're looking for are too close to recognize them.

wow , I didn't see that, but I understood that the I we normally see doesn't really exist and that is a great help

This was a good lesson. I also appreciated her clarification at the end on what "self" is really being discussed.

Is the "I" awareness?
@calicocatvlogger
@calicocatvlogger 4 жыл бұрын
I think it is a different thing, but I am not sure. I think awareness is just being conscience and know what we are thinking and doing and the "I" is what the mind creates in order to give us a sense of who we are as a survival mechanism I guess, but this is a rough answer and probably not 100% correct or complete

Realization of There's no 'I',.

@@huensang well, this is linguistic trickery. There is an "I" but it's not an independent "I" and therefore it is not an ego "I" because the ego is the result of causes and conditions and therefore shall we say unreal in the sense of not ultimately existing and not existing independent of causes and conditions. The looking for the "I" is a bit of a game or an exercise and different traditions use it in different words or symbols so it looks like different methods. Advaita says "neti-neti" for example. Some traditions look in terms of what is compound and what is elemental on this plane in order to transcend. It's possible to consider bare awareness the "I" because in non-duality there is only one and that one is emptiness. Primordial awareness is just as much "mine" as anyone else's. Walt Whitman said "every atom belongs to you as well belongs to me" which can be thought of as a metaphor for empty of inherent personal existence. Who am I? What am I? all rather introductory and in some traditions it's considered a lifetime's work while in other traditions it's considered kindergarten. Go figure. IRL we are all on our own paths and these highly elaborated paths and endless rituals and prescriptions are there, in truth, as GUIDANCE, because it can get very, very scary out there. For ya'll who have been out there you know what I mean -- out there is fine but the coming back is hellish. These structures not only support institutions which exist to maintain their own existence and traditions but they are also the retreat into the sanga and the buddo as anchors. Reality is not inside these fancy painted rooms with people wearing their work uniforms. It's out there in the wild where you must go completely alone and naked and hack your way out of the jungle in the dark. Who would even want to? People come to these teachings as psychotherapy which they are great for but as far as just busting free, freedom is the biggest fear humans have. It's not for the squeamish, mostly for those pushed to the edge of a cliff one way or the other. It's not a gentle, genteel edge with soft spoken, sweet nunneries and majestic monks and priests. The darkest hour is before dawn. May all beings (who want to) be Free.

It is actually distracting for me to visualise anything such as energy or breath or oneness. When i do this i literally focus on (nothing) and that's it. I have adhd and autism so my mind works a bit literally.
