i got a stihl small hedge cutter, and bought the ak 10 batteries and charger for it, i now have mounted the battery charger in the van so i can charge one as i use the other one. I bought a jackery 240 to use for the charging and it is awesome.

How does this unit fair in light showers etc

Very light showers are OK buy I don't like to use it in anything heavier. So that's quite a big negative

@@TheGreyGardener1990 cheers mate, I have the Stihl Battery Scarifier with 2 AK30 batteries and have been pondering on getting this and the HSA 56. Currently run Makita 36v and more than impressed with it but would prefer to keep to one battery platform

@@AnthonyHitmanFiore there's the next model up I think which is more commercial and off the top of my head, is more suited to wet weather I think. Buy yeah, no complaints on how it cuts hedges. Struggles slightly with thicker stuff so maybe not great for a full on reduction?

@@TheGreyGardener1990 yea, they take the AP batteries but they don’t have a battery scarifier in that range as of yet

Am wondering I should choose Stihl HLA 56 or Makita DUN500. How long does your AK30 battery last ? The dealer told me it's good for 15mins but I read somewhere it's 60mins, would like to hear your actual experience, much appreciated !

Sorry for late reply mate. It came with two AK20 batteries and I couldnt be happier. They must last at least 5 or 6 hours at least of solid hedge cutting off the top of my head.
@mercianwoodsmantraditional94703 жыл бұрын
Did you go for the ak20 batteries? I'm thinking of going with the strimmer, blower and this hla for next year, was wanting the ak30 but the price is a bit high
@TheGreyGardener19903 жыл бұрын
Yeah it came with a couple of Ak 20 batteries. Can't fault them, absolutely brilliant
@TheGreyGardener19903 жыл бұрын
The batteries don't last long with the leaf blower though. I read the ak20 only gives you 10-15 mins of use. So that put me off and I invested in a petrol vacuum/blower

@@TheGreyGardener1990 cheers, it's good to know what to go for ahead of buying, I never trust run times on websites. Maybe a slow upgrade to ak20 and then grab a 30 down the line. These battery tools seem too good to be true, I can't wait to get rid of all the 2 stroke mither
@TheGreyGardener19903 жыл бұрын
@@mercianwoodsmantraditional9470 yeah, I use my hedge trimmer maybe once or twice a week so decided to go battery on that but I've I've a petrol strimmer as I use that daily and on big tidy up jobs as petrol are more robust and powerful so depends what you're going for. Ease of use then battery probably all day but if you're going to hammer it I'd invest in petrol
@mercianwoodsmantraditional94703 жыл бұрын
@@TheGreyGardener1990 I use a scythe and a few different hand tools for heavy work, otherwise I'd stick with petrol, I'll probably be sticking with a petrol mower though, never had problems with petrol mowers

Hi mate, I think my links in the description. They do deals with various batteries/charger etc but I think I paid £300 ish with a couple of batteries if I remember rightly. They aren't as powerful as petrol so doing a big reduction would be tougher but if you're just maintaining a hedge, they're great. Battery life really good and lightweight too. Always starts obviously so no worries there. Hard to fault them to be honest
