This Chinese Juniper has been in this family for a very long time and in this video I prune and wire it to create a more pleasing bonsai.

This is actually mine and my husbands bonsai that Peter so kindly worked on for us. It was my husband’s grandmother who passed away so this little tree has huge sentimental value to both of us. We gave Peter a complete free rein to do whatever he chose to this little juniper tree and we both feel he has done a wonderful job. I’ve always loved bonsai and have joined a local bonsai club as my knowledge is limited but I did recognise when we inherited this tree last year it needed repotting but waited for the right time of year to go to the experts for advice. Peter then has also made some amazing changes to make this once again look like a bonsai tree. Thank you so much, I have much to learn but an eager heart to do so!

What a beautiful gift from your husband's grandmother. Your bonsai is so lucky that you care for it enough to send it to Peter for some tender loving care ❤

There is something fantastic in realizing that the bonsai we create are not really ours. We have to rely on the people we pass the them down to, to take care of it.. and eventually pass it down again, continuing the process. Its absolutely wonderful.

I hope you will also find the time to teach this owner how to properly take care of the juniper. It would be nice to see this juniper live for many more years. :)

Quite unique that you’ve ended up with a really old tree that looks like a young one, when most of the time we try and do the exact opposite! And really nice to get to hear the inheritance story. If the leggy branches back bud I’d imagine they can be reduced which might bring the old trunk back into proportion. Or maybe the owner prefers it to stay more like how she remembers her grandmother having it 😊

One day i hope i can visit you and your nursery its not far away from germany but flights are not cheap as well in these times .It would be a big step in learning and seeing things you did in the real life and maybe say hello to Peter :D

Wow, that tree came out so nice compared to what it started with. Still want to see the Bristlecones but now the Sierra and I assume White Mountains (Where the Bristlecones are) are covered in record snow. I just retired and I would like to see them once more while I can still get around.

Hey Peter! I’ve just wired a new thoweil hinoki cypress. On the beginning of the branch I did slightly tear the branches while wiring. I completed the tree and happy with how it looks but what do I do with the two branches that are still attached but slightly torn
@HeronsBonsaiUK
@HeronsBonsaiUK Жыл бұрын
If it not completely severed - you can tie it up with wire or tape and let it heal. Good luck. It might be OK.
@monkey4424
@monkey4424 Жыл бұрын
@@HeronsBonsaiUK yes, it’s maybe a quarter of the branch maybe 1/3 of the branch start is slightly torn. And it’s all wired up and when I look at it 30 minutes later. I don’t see it anymore, maybe because the contact of the sap or healthy inside parts has turned slightly brown and covered up. I hope it survives

Could you please recommend a soil brand that is good for planting pine seedlings tiny like my finger. Or should I just take some soil from the closest pine forest and try that? I’m also planning to do the same like you did in your video / how to make bonsai for free/ you just find the project trees in your garden to make a bonsai!!Thanks from Scotland Aberfeldy. I’m a beginner!
