Penny still my favorite player ever. I lived in Orlando during those days. They had the town lit up! Sad to see how ego's played into their breakup. Shaq was dominant, but Penny was a phenom and was more marketable. He became the crowd favorite and Diesel couldn't handle that. Will always hold that 95 team as one of the best starting 5's ever, and definitely THEE most entertaining team I ever watched play. It blows my mind Penny's not in the HOF. At his peak, every pundit was already talking about his potential to be the GOAT. He would have surpassed Magic as the greatest PG ever if he didn't get hurt. Wear Pennies, GET DIMES!!!

Hey man, me too! Any of us who were in Orlando at that time know Penny was THAT GUY. A hybrid of Magic and Michael, we LOVED that uniqueness to him. We'd talk about Penny all the time in school, Central Florida was filled with people wearing Penny jerseys, a lot of us cried when Orlando lost in the Finals to the Rockets. It was a special time! I was a fan through T-Mac's time, and Dwight's time, but Orlando never buzzed like it did in the mid 90s.

I know Shaq is most remembered as a Laker, but I still to this day only think of Shaq on Orlando with Penny. That was one of my favorite duos growing up. I hated when Shaq left and went to the Lakers. I remember when NBA Live 97 came out for Playstation; I released Shaq off the Lakers and put him right back on Orlando. And that's coming from a guy that grew up in Chicago as a Bulls fan in the 90's.

As for the question, how many more would Kobe and Shaq would've won if they stayed together? lmao. at most 2. realistically 1. At that time, Shaq was getting lazier and lazier and getting hurt more and more. Bro. I witnessed the whole thing. Stop changing the narrative. I love you Shaq. OH MY GOD! PENNY HARDAWAY! Like every time I see you, I get kinda giddy inside. I love you so much, Penny. In middle school, I used to rotate posters in my binder of you, Ice Cube and Nasir. I just...whew! Oh my God! I enjoyed this interview, fellas. Thanks so much. We already know how ill, sick wit it and just graceful you were on that court so I don't need to pick it apart. I love you so much. You still look good.

Observations. 1: It’s like we were spammed with ads, either from the pod or KZbin, with an interview in between. 2nd: “I came in him and you came in him” can’t even be covered with a PAUSE. That’s is way too WILD

But back in 96, I thought Shaq was crazy leaving Orlando because I thought they were the up-and-coming of Magic and Kareem and won 5 championships together. With knee issues for Penny, Shaq made the right move in the end, signing with the Lakers and winning 3 championships.

I respect Shaq so much but Kobe was 17 years old and Penny was 22 years old, just finished his Junior year of college ball. Of course Penny came in as Him. Kobe was a teenager.
