Rodman also gave Shaq a reality Check, he was the only one Strong enough apart from Big Ben who could stop him dead in his tracks, especially back to the basket. Dennis learned from the best on how to play hard, physical, and dirty. Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn toughened Rodman up on how to play the game, but the rebounding was all Dennis. During Pistons warm-ups before tip off, everyone would be shooting around except Dennis. He was just watching the ball come out of hands and counting the rotations as it spun in mid air before hitting the rim and watching the delivery of the shooters follow thru to see where that rebound was going. As much as I disliked him as a die hard Celtics fan I gotta say that the man was a crazy genius.

Your opinion is absolutely spot on about today's NBA. In the 90s through mid 00s, it was my favorite sport to watch other than the NFL. Not only because I was a huge Bulls fan but because it was fun to watch. Now I think it's too predictable and disappointing. Rodman was one of the hardest working players and dedicated no matter what he did behind the scenes. If any player played like that today, the NBA would ban him indefinitely from ever playing again. Adam Silver ruined it.

@avikellerman4539
@avikellerman4539 Жыл бұрын
@@yo3rdtier128 Keep dreaming. Shaq would be unstoppable and break everything inside the paint that got in his way. It would be a guaranteed power dunk every time he got the ball in the paint. Dudes would be fouling out left and right trying to stop him because fouling is the only way they could! And knowing how soft today's game is where everything is a foul he'd be even more unstoppable than he was back then. Not to mention most of the "bigs" now are skinny and weak stretch 4s and stretch 5s. Shaq is basically a 7 foot 300 lb Lebron James. That type of power and ferocity. Dude broke multiple backboards. From a sheer power and physicality point of view there hasn't been a single guy like Shaq before or since. There's been taller guys, but not more powerful. Go watch what he did to Duncan and Robinson in the playoffs. Some of the best defensive big men to play the game and he ate their lunch and went through them like nothing. Shaq is probably the most unstoppable player to ever play the game, even more than MJ, Kobe or Lebron or any big you can name. Because he was always the biggest and the strongest guy and by a wide margin. That type of physical domination translates to any era.

@@avikellerman4539 It's true that Shaq was that dominant. I think you'd have to go further back instead of forward to find people of a different era that could go toe to toe with him in todays rules. For instance if you had guys like from the 60's Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell, and then the 70's, Kareem and Julius Erving. That would be something to see... those guys could hang with Shaq. I think the only other guy who had Shaq's incredible gift of a physic was Wilt, and though Shaq was slightly bigger maybe in his prime, Wilt was by far faster, and more overall athletic... Wilt was amazingly fast on the court. And the dude has the highest points in an NBA game I cant' believe anyone will ever beat.... Shaq though is one of my favorite players of all time, on and off the court, but he also had a gift that made it so he didn't have to do what some other players had to do to be great. Guys like Julius Erving, Bill Russell, etc, guys who were like watching true geniuses play the game... and that's also where Rodman was in his own way. Shaq had everything that Rodman didn't. Shaq had a stable home, had bigger physique, was considered good looking, while Rodman suffered his entire life thinking he was trash because of what he went through growing up. So there is no doubt in today's rules Shaq would have played better against Rodman because there was no room, no space to get a little dirty like there was when Rodman and Shaq had their battles. But for the game as it was, when they played, that grey area was what allowed a man who would otherwise be physically dominated by a physically gifted athlete like Shaq, have a chance to sometimes honestly, make magic from nothing. He was one of the most ingenious at finding that line, and somehow being able to cross it without being called. Some of the ways he could look like he was honestly just focused on the ball, meanwhile his legs were doing things that no one saw because everyone was focused on the play above the shoulders, meanwhile Rodman was playing the game with his feet, perfectly placing his feet so that when Shaq got the ball and tried to move he was going to be falling over Rodman's leg, and if you didn't know Rodman was Rodman, no other player would have been called for it, because it could have just been an honest place to stand, but because you knew Rodman's game, you knew it wasn't an accident. And that takes a different kind of intelligence, and most of all, it takes a different kind of will. Anyone with Shaq's gifts physically is gonna be a star out there as long as they put in the hours... but Rodman, while not short, was no 7ft monster, and didn't even start to play basketball until he had a growth spurt after graduating highschool, and was working as a Janitor... To go from having the hell of a life he had as a kid, drug addict parents, being basically raised by another family who took him in, to being a Janitor after graduating, his life was basically ending where everyone expected his life to end up as, but to then playing on multiple championship teams in the NBA, it's amazing. The sheer will and force of finding a way to get those rebounds night after night, he really did succeed in a way no one thought he would... he know he could not catch up to others in other parts of the game, but he could be intelligent in ways that allowed him to neutralize their game... and he did it absolutely brilliantly night after night. Sadly though, Rodman wasn't ever taught how to manage his money, coming from where he did growing up, and he really doesn't have much from what I know of his situation... Where Shaq is incredible wealthy... and deservedly so on Shaq's side, Shaq was brilliant in regards to how he built his fortune on top of his pay, etc. Not only that but Shaq gives a lot to charities, etc, so nothing but respect for Shaq on and off the court... just wish Rodman had managed to save more of his good fortune. Must be harder to have had all that and to have lost almost all of it... because Rodman for his entire life felt no one had any reason to love him, i think he believed unless he spent the money no one would care about him, so he was generous to the point of leaving almost nothing for himself at the end.. and I find that kind of a sad ending to his career...

All that crap and drama he had with Kobe because he saw a young and upcoming Superstar and he threw a massive tantrum about it. Which then turned the locker room into a complete toxic cesspool. The Worm is also irritating to his opponents, and I get it....only to a point! All these technical fouls make no sense to the team and he can be an asshole sometimes as well. Do away with that! 💯

Just wanted to complement your channel. Came across it recently. I grew up in the 80’s when Magic and Bird were going at it along with the Pistons and Knicks great teams, etc., etc. Unfortunately, the NBA product just isn’t the same anymore. That’s not a knock on the players but rules that negate the physicality of the game. It’s a good time reminiscing here with your videos. Thanks and best of luck growing your channel. Hopefully, with the help of channels like yours, the youngins will see how the game was played and expect more from the NBA in the future!

I think it was the end of episode 3 of the last dance where Dennis walks out wearing leather drinking a beer, finishing his beer and getting on his bike rolls out behind his police escort! I don’t give a hoot 🦉 what negative shit Shaq has to say because that man is a national fucking treasure! He is a beautiful, vulnerable human being who deserves all the love in the world! God bless the Worm!

The 90's teams were weak compared to the great 80's teams. I watched Boston destroy Jordan over and over and over again. It took Jordan 7 years before he won anything. Bird and Celtics were old and broken. Detroit not the same team. Jordan is the most over rated player in history. Maybe most athletic but that's it. His dunks were nothing like Dom's.

Rodman is one of my favorite players growing up. I liked his hustle. I especially liked the Bulls’ version of him. The team was able to maximize his talent and manage his colorful personality. He is probably among the hardest-working and most athletic players I’ve seen on a basketball court. I still think he could have easily scored a bit more. Many of his rebounds were near the ring. He scored more when he was younger.

Yup, gotta give Rodman his respect no matter whether you love him or hate him. The man wasn't afraid of anybody, and wasn't scared to get physical and possibly even get hurt. That kind of do-or-die mentality is basically absent in today's NBA.

10 years ago my brother lived in the Victoria Park neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale 6 blocks from Rodman's townhouse. He would get up early, 5 to 6a, to walk his dogs. Many times he would walk by Rodman's place. He told me that Rodman had a party 5 to 6 nights a week, every week, and people would be pouring out of his place at that time of the morning. All drunky pants, and totally freakie looking.

I feel like Shaq is kind of throwing shade at Rodman for the sake of making a spicy interview. When he says he’s the “worst teammate” I get what he’s saying, it’s saying he doesn’t like the attitude of appearing less committed than the rest of the team. It’s totally valid, but to say that makes him the “worst teammate” is a very modern media way to talk about it , that makes it seem more of an extreme opinion than it really is. Everyone in that era of ball knows how important Dennis was to the success of the teams he was playing for. Dennis is a legend of the same caliber that Shaq is, and Shaq acknowledged how great of a player he is, and I guarantee Shaq doesn’t regret having Dennis on his team. Shaq didn’t leave the LA because or Dennis, he left because of Kobe. That tells you everything you need to know.

Rodman was one of the few that Shaq couldn’t bully around. Rodman was way stronger than he looked, he wasn’t scared of anyone and he was so smart he knew where to be at all times. People assumed Rodman was dumb because he was loud and acted crazy but he was basketball smart. I remember Mutombo Bull and Yao Ming gave Shaq hell too. Shaq only had a few guys that he couldn’t get the best of. Dennis Rodman was the greatest rebounder ever because he knew his job and mastered it.

Dennis Rodman brought a type of intensity and energy today’s NBA rarely see’s. He brought his own technique on how the basketball 🏀 would rotate off any players shots, to place himself in correct positions to dominate the Rebounds. He never backed down from anyone on the court, and could disrupt the offensive flow of his opponents, with his intensity and ability to get in your head. Dennis Rodman is a true NBA Legend

What made Dennis Dennis was the fact that he wasn't scared of anybody on the court. His mentality was 100% of his ability. He didn't really have the skills, he wasn't a super athlete, yeah he was big and strong, but not compared to the guys he dominated. Rodman was 100% will and determination and effort. He didn't give a fuck who you were, Shaq, Jordan, anybody, you were getting the fucking work, all day every day. I love that about him and that's why he's a legend and always will be.

When playing with the Bulls in one of their playoff runs he told Phil Jackson he needed a couple of days off a couple of weeks before round one started. Phil said ok and Rodman was gone for a week,awol. Nobody knew where he was. He was parting with his buddies and just showed up at practice. Nothing was said or done and helped lead the Bulls to a championship. What guy partied into the wee hours of the morning, dressed like a woman, wore a wedding dress in public, Dennis Rodman.
