Bravo, Zack! Fantastic idea, and a great way to share in a real way. As far as intros go, they usually become annoying after the first time. The "canned" ones have become like splash pages were back in medieval age of the interwebs - a waste of bandwidth and the viewer's time. I clicked the link. I know what the channel is. I probably have a good idea of what the episode is about if the title is meaningful. Canned intros are another example of the "branding" excesses bombarding us from every direction. An old journalism professor once told us, "Don't waste the reader's time telling them what you're going to write about. Hook them with the first sentence." If an intro isn't a hook, it's just fluff.
@MrHaroldo504 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree about intros -- too often they're a self-aggrandizing waste of time. We don't need a reminder about credentials, etc especially if we're a returning viewer. Share your content, cut to the chase. And thanks for sharing these other channels!

Thanks for the feature at #30 on your playlist. What great company. There goes my weekend, with all those new channels to explore! Regarding intro/outro - I'm a firm "no intro" believer. Integrate a "hook" as often as possible to the video, but pre-roll not needed. Outro - the post-roll can be a helpful deep link opportunity for YT viewers and the algorithm. No harm if people skip, and minimal effort to create a template. Cheers!

I feel honored to be listed among so many great content creators. Thanks Zack! Oh, and my two cents on the intro/outro debate: I like to try and shoot my videos in various sets/locations so I think that having a short repeating intro (after my quick teaser) helps to keep some measure of consistency to my content. If it’s just you, no intro or outro required. If you have a guest or cohost, a simple quick text flyover IDing everybody is nice. If you have helpers (e.g. video editor, etc), it’s a little grey, but even then, if you did, put it at the end as a bottom third credits as you’re wrapping up the video. I hosted several weekly audio and video podcasts for the better part of 10 years a number of years ago and never did intros or outros and never once had an audience member comment about it.

I even went and set up a little studio in the attic room to get started while my knee heels. I definitely agree with having shorter intros particularly if a new channel. Even a simply “In this video...” Outro’s are good for call to actions like click on this playlist etc but I find the best Outro creeps up and leaves you wanting more. Thanks again 🤘

I think into and outro are more tradition than anything.... We used to get a short piece of a TV show and then a piano would start playing and the "Cheers" theme song would kick in while we watched the credits. Anymore, I'm kinda impartial but... A 10 second intro is prefect for KZbin as KZbin allows a 10 second fast forward. 😉 These videos and their own playlist is awesome. A community helping it's self is just wonderful. Thank you.

I'm totally with you on the intros. If it's a canned intro, five seconds max. I have a Strong opinion about intro/outros, lol. But first, great vid, I will check the playlist! As far as intros/outros go, I gave up 2 "adpocalypses" ago when youtube started flagging my vids for the music that I used in them. I made the music in Reason 4 & 5 and had my own LP! had to appeal all the flags and prove I made the damn music! After that I stopped bothering with intros. I'll usually keep my outro as it gives "time" for the various cards/widgets to run (the playlist, suggested vid, subscribe cards)
@ZackAriasATL4 жыл бұрын
I totally get that. I have licensed my music for all of my videos and they will get flagged at times and it’s a pain to get flag removed. I still need to figure out cards and all that at the end of the video.

@@ZackAriasATL It's almost like services like "EP Sound" have some sort of back room, cigar smoking, deal with google,... ;) I use an extension called Tube buddy, it allows you to make a template or 2 for the end cards and after that just a couple clicks and it adds it on to the end. Also helps with tags, thumbnails, all sorts of stuff.

F*ck yeah, what a great video with loads of interesting new channels to follow, thanks for doing this and sharing it with us! Great vid an opportunity for the folks you spotlighted. I'll be picking up a few for sure. Intro/outro - on vlogs I agree, not really necessary and I tend to skip them anyway when they're of any length. After I've seen them a couple times there's no need to anymore. If you're doing a stylized short film or something like that (not a talking head) I think an intro/outro works because it's more movie-like.

Size proportionate toe the video. 30 seconds is a bit long winded. If I want to persuade you of something, I need a call to action. That belongs at then end. Some tubers ask people to subscribe etc right at the beginning. That's stupid, and anyone who subscribes at that point is stupid. You have to earn my support by providing whatever I cam to you for.
