I completly agree with the third opinion ! I draw and animate to create... Not to reproduce the boring reality... I want to be free and be creative !

I am right there with you!. I find art more interesting when there are funky colors, maybe the anatomy is super exaggerated, or anything far from the real world ❤️

Which is why I never draw fully human characters. Why draw a human when I could draw a gat goddess or a water nymph? Or a cat with bird wings? 😂

Yessss, I also don't really like realism, and that's kind of frowned upon by many. VERY Unpopular opinion: I think that you should be allowed to make art of exactly anything and everything. Including gross, vile and sinister stuff. Slightly unpopular opinion: The most high end, crazy expensive art is just for money laundry. Liked your cute style, btw -:)

Thank you for watching! and I agree that artist are free to create whatever the heck they want no matter how messed up it is. At the end of the day it is a form of expression. I wanna say the issue falls when the artist wants to share that work. There is nothing wrong sharing, but I believe that type of art should be shared in the right places where it will be received & critiqued constructively.

- Copying something 100% isnt fanart, and if somebody sell plaguiarized works at a convention or somewhere else, should be expelled from wherever he shows it. - realism sucks, It is the pinnacle of technique but it has nothig to offer in the creative department. Creativity >>>>> technique.

I definitely agree on getting kicked out if the art is plagiarized! The gall to attempt to make a profit of work that isn't your own is upsetting.

With the whole skin color thing i remember when amanda the adventurer was popular on ticktock and everyone seemed to be using the word whitewashed for the first time. I remember someone was talking about how a specific drawing of Dora and Amanda was whitewashed and I tried to explain in the comments that I don't think thats what happened because both the skin and clothes color were lightend and I think it was just an attempt at making a pastel color palette. She wasn't hearing that and accused me of being racist and white (im black).

Yikes! It is hard to explain the nuance of art and color to individuals sometimes 😩. I truly believe if your browsing art online to look at the art for a few more seconds before posting a angry post. I feel like so long as we continue to politely educate individuals will get it eventually

i honestly agree with all of them but the one that i truly f with is the last one. idk if i sound reasonable but at times i even dislike realism or hyperrealism to be exact. i think the main reason is my experience with non-artists and how they view hyperrealism vs how they view and other artstyle. how they view hypperealism as the best and most valuable, but see other artstyles as inferior or worthless. and hyperrealism artists as "true artists"... how the only talent is being able to copy the same exact thing and not even put some creativity onto it. i usually draw myself and the amount of non-artists who don't even know anything about art has come to me and have said "oh it doesnt look like you bc your nose in that drawing looks slightly bent and bigger" or "it doesn't look like you" is just concerning, like did i ask?
@vulpipunk

Speaking so many truths! Realism is a great foundational tool to learn, but I belive it should be applied to create something more unique. And you are 100% on the same thought path about non artist viewing realism as the BEST. I think it stems from the art being based in reality and they can understand that... but the moment you get into more creative works & things that are unnatural it becomes harder for the non artist to understand what they are looking at and they dismiss it as less impressive.

what where am i how did i get here why’s your art so scrumptious Jokes aside, I haven’t seen any of your videos before but this is absolutely great and I’m surprised there aren’t more comments, I love hearing different opinions! Your art is absolutely lovely, it makes me smile:) I also appreciate your explanations behind each point, each opinion isn’t a condemnation to others with differing thoughts, just honest communication on how you feel. It leaves room for honest discussion and other perspectives, which I am always excited to see (I like talking a lot so I guess that’s not a surprise haaa) I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos now, I’m glad this showed up in my recommended :)

i think realism can be boring, if the artist does it in a boring way. some realism artists (ytber superraedizzle comes to mind) can make realism actually look interesting. but a lot of the time, while i find it incredibly impressive, it kinda bores me.

I love superraedizzle! They add that creative energy the "average realism pieces" are missing. I agree! Realism in in most basic form( replicating reality) is very dull.

Unpopular opinions but when the drawing has way to bright colours like am I looking at a drawing or a pack of markers that I got for 5 dollars and when the drawing as zero Color I get if it’s in black or white zero colour looks great in most scenarios but when you have a bunch of characters and then one that’s just so colour less that is like it was just placed in. Also when there is to much going on like there’s so much I can’t even see the character or the opposite when the character is just hair shirt pants and shoes thank you for reading I hope you relate to some of these
@vulpipunk
@vulpipunk 2 ай бұрын
Gotcha. I get the one where there is to much going on. There is a delicate balance in busy compositions to not make my eyes hurt looking at everything. As far as the color opinion I guess it would boil down to execution of the pieces. Hyper pop is pleasing to look at if done well but a beginner artist may struggle to balance those colors well. I get you 😎

2:35 I agree with everything you said. But at the same time, if you struggle with shading darker skin tones, you can always learn how to or just- avoid drawing said character. That way, you can avoid hurting someone’s feelings. Think before you post is my point.
@simonclover1954
@simonclover1954 2 ай бұрын
Learning takes time, you have to make flawed pieces before you make good ones. And I think telling someone to avoid drawing different characters with a skin tone they’re not used to doing could discourage them from improving.
@vulpipunk
@vulpipunk 2 ай бұрын
So I am 50/50 on this comment. Yes if an artist is struggling to render skin tones they have all the resources to learn & improve, however, I don't agree that they shouldn't draw the subject or not post the art at all. I feel like that can discourage an artist from wanting to improve their weaknesses. Posting that progress and getting constructive feedback can help so much. The last thing we want is for an artist to be too afraid to post what they are working on because the 1% will get offended.

Love your personality and art so much! I agree with all of these and I think most artists would. The internet just kind of amplifies the tiny percentage that doesn’t. The fan art one ESPECIALLY. I get so frustrated seeing artists basically copy a frame of animation or an official character design and then get tons of attention and sell it for several hundred bucks when I draw the same character in my own style and get none of that. Call me envious but it’s just not fair. My unpopular art opinion: drawing hands is easy. There’s so many good references and tutorials online too. Drawing feet is the real hard one
@vulpipunk
@vulpipunk 2 ай бұрын
Spicy opinion! Unless I am drawing toes, feet get drawn with a sock, shoe, or left as a blob. I think the hardest part of drawing hands is just getting the practice and knowledge in. For the art that gets more traction. I feel like a lot of that attention is from the casual consumers. Individuals who don't care about creative expression and just want more content of X show or game. You just keep doing you and you'll attract people who really like your work.

It's not realism for me, I occasionally practice it to get anatomy right. But the part where you mentioned having to copy photo's. That's what I had to deal with in my junior year of high school. However. We couldn't pick the photo's. Nor did we copy photographs either. The teacher would have us gather around one table in the classroom and watch him paint for a little bit. Then we'd have to remember what he painted and replicate it as closely as possible. And we had to do that a majority of the time. Any other school work that we did in that class was for other classes or for local fairs. To add insult to injury, any of the projects where he gave us creative freedom to draw whatever we wanted, were always scrapped and replaced with another replication assignment. His art wasn't bad by any means. But having to do that almost every single time got really annoying. The main reasoning he gave for doing that was because, the painting class that we were in was a mixture of students attending for painting 1-3. Which just felt odd... Like I think he could've given us creative freedom even if he had us work on similar projects. So I guess a better way of putting it is: "Follow my lead" style art lessons.
@vulpipunk

Hmm that is such a strange way to teach how to paint. I would expect that from a college level art class, Not high school across all levels. I agree with practicing anatomy and aspects of realism to get the fundamentals down but I feel like these types of art teachers in those times couldn't get past the fundamentals phase( while not actually teaching anything....)

OK, OK OK, Here's my controversial responses. Are we better from the back pain? Not so much. From lethargy? Not even close. Better from psychological turmoil? I wish. But I'm still gonna comment and i'm sorry if anythings sounds a little "off". (Or I'm talking like a crackhead XD) *1 -* *I feel like drawing as the actual shows/anime could be fun as in a way to show a new thing of the world they're in;* like there's this one pokémon fanart where N is a stereotypical japanese teacher and other pokémon trainers are doing their thing in class... Like, showing a new TWIST, a new interpretation of the characters or something cool you or other people wanna see from the shows. (Another example, i was a HUGE fan of Jack-a-Lynne, a deviantart artist who's made pokémon and gravity falls comics; they tried to replicate pokémon's style but they've kept their colorful paintings and OMG HOW MUCH I'VE ATE THAT SH UP) Anyways, i just felt a litte iffy with the last part of this topic; i get what you meant, don't get me wrong, sadly i know a LOT OF PPL in the art community can't be very unreasonable, like they don't wanna hear what they don't like; saying "did they actually drawn it? Bc of the style i could think they've traced it" might sound a little... to others. Luckily you won't find any of these rotten apples 💀💧 *2 -* *I feel likes as POC we tend to "Taboo-fy" our skintones a LOT.* Like do they forgot black people can get... Lighter? Some black ppl who dealt w pandemic literally got paler skin. There's also illnesses that may get your skin lighter, Like vitiligo, anemia... I have anemia. I'm literally Lemongrab rn 💀 WHITE Lemongrab after a stomach ache i had last month. But luckily i'm doing better now; my coloration is starting to look a little good. *3-* *... *I'm in the same boat. :D FUCK REALISM.* (Says the dude who's working on 4 semi realistic portraits of their OCS-) But i've been enjoying messing w brushes. Specially drawing with AIRBRUSH. I feel like a Koleen wannabe but actually making something interesting w my art.

So for the 1st opinion I am mainly stemming from the fan art that looks like they took a screenshot and make that the art to sell, or the artist in question uses the same poses as the promotional material. I honestly don't mind if the artist is doing something fun and different with the concept of the piece( like the teacher scenario you mentioned above or using the shows style but putting the characters in a different theme or scenario). I am mainly sick of seeing work that looks like the person selling the work took a screenshot from an actual episode and is selling that instead of doing something fun with it an minimum.

With opinion 01, I always wondered how people get away with selling fanart of trademarked IPs, 1:1 art style copies or not, at conventions. Can't you technically get in a lot of trouble for that?? I thought if it's a trademarked IP, you're not really allowed to use that to make your own stuff with those characters for profit???
@vulpipunk
@vulpipunk 2 ай бұрын
So selling fanart in general is a slippery slope. Most IP holders don't care if you sell fanart of their stuff. They see it as free promotion(always double check if you do! Some have official statements on what they do and don't allow) Now for the 1:1art style being sold that is partly on the convention selection process. If it's 1st come 1st serve or random picks I can see those types of works getting in. If it's a juried process it could be on the taste of the jury or the convention goals for the artist alley. Also depending on the seller they could have gotten a license to sell those IPs, but I imagine that can be rare to get. There are so many levels to this 🫨
@supergirltalz
@supergirltalz 2 ай бұрын
@@vulpipunk so I don't sell art but I am an artist myself, for context! I know companies like Disney don't really like people using their stuff for profit without permission but I don't know how loose the anime/manga studios are on that. It's just something I always wondered but like you said, it gets so complicated because there's soooo many factors! I think at the conventions here, they don't really stop anyone selling art of existing IPs because they know it'll drive people to buy a ticket to the con. It's almost encouraged here because people are more likely to buy a drawing of Goku, a character they recognise, than they are to buy one of your OC who looks cool but they don't know. I'm not saying it's the case for everyone but it seems to be the trend here, at least Wild, lawless country out here in the art community sometimes lmaooooooooo
@vulpipunk
@vulpipunk 2 ай бұрын
I feel that. I go to a few small cons in my area and there is a lot more fanart sold. I see way more variety at larger cons like Megacon, Pensacon, etc. From the artist I follow online and the ones I've spoken too it's a tricky balance between selling the art you think people will buy while promoting your original works at the same time.
@supergirltalz

@@vulpipunk I agree, it's a fine balance you gotta work until you're pretty much known for your art and not your fanart

what i love is when people take a realistic art style, and put it in an unrealistic situation. i don’t know how to explain it, but when an artist plays with colors really well. an example would be caamileon’s art (kzbin.infoTzET2O1bQds?si=Qok-e2_07y1jcFfV)
