I could be wrong, but I think Love is a choice and a chemical reaction. Love is felt and expressed in different ways, right? Love is a combination of decisions and a hybrid of many different emotions. Today I chose to love myself and my partner with all of our flaws combined. It’s important to understand what love looks like to you. The way you communicate love to a partner will only be as strong as the love you communicate to yourself. Sometimes I feel we misuse the word LOVE. Then again, maybe it’s because my definition is different than yours. The emotions I associate with the state of mind and body we call love are peace, tranquility, surrender, respect, understanding and support. I think we tend to talk more about loving a partner than we do loving ourselves. There are days where I don’t actively choose to love myself. There are days where I don’t respect myself, take care of myself, support myself or even attempt to understand myself. Even with everything I just typed, I think that’s still only a small portion of what love really is. I’m still learning and I’m sure I’ll figure it out more. If you made it to this point of my thoughts, please remember to embrace your flaws and appreciate your scars. Love yourself unconditionally and be your own best friend. It’s okay to not always be perfect, there really is no such thing. We are all imperfect and I think we tend to forget that we’re all more similar than different. So if no one told you today, I love you and I hope all is good in you for you and around you. All love.
