Awwww Claire you are so brave to do this video . And being dyslexic is nothing to be ashamed of there are many people who suffer from it. And like all of them you hide it well, I would never have noticed it if you had not told us all in this video. Can I just say I love that pink kettle :D Teddy

Growing up I had trouble with reading and spelling, I would always get more anxious when I had to read to the class, always make mistakes, the words would move all over the place, I still have trouble with reading especially being a nurse there are huge words, I can’t spell many words and can’t pronounce them. I never struggled with maths though always in the top classes for maths, I noticed with my almost 9 year old son he is the same so we try to focus more on English then maths as he always in the top marks for maths.

I thought I’d commented on this! Last time we saw each other you said that you were dyslexic. Hearing the full story, it made me sad that for many years you didn’t get the help you needed. Glad you finally got the support and managed to overcome and deal with your dyslexia. Very brave story thanks for sharing ❤️

What a wonderful video Claire, you are special in such a terrific way! I was born in 1953 so things were very different back then as far a school. I never liked school so did not do well, I spent more time looking out the window than paying attention to what was going on in class. When I was 12 years old I shattered both bones in my left leg above the ankle skiing, and the doctor set it wrong so after three weeks they had to reset it, needless to say I missed a month of 8th grade. I started high school still in a full cast and on crutches and was made fun of, especially when they took the cast off and I needed a cane to walk. I skipped a lot of classes in high school. I was good in the trades, like welding, carpentry, and electronics, but found out I was colorblind and a lot of electronic parts are labeled by color. I ended up working as a lineman, and here in the U.P. of Michigan there are many miles of rural power lines, which means you climb poles and don't work from a bucket truck, hard physical work. Then I was injured and ended up with three fractures in my lumbar spine, and could no longer work as a lineman and the company let me go. That is when I started college, and I was in a body cast. Long-story short, I realized I learn different than other people, not sure what that is called, but I graduated from university top of my class. My Mum was always supportive of me, even when I brought home terrible report cards, but by the time I went to college she had passed away. I know she would have been very proud of my achievement. Your dyslexia has made you very special, a terrific person, and a wonderful Mum, and that is something to be very proud of! Thank you for sharing your story! Sincerely, Ossie

Oh Claire what a catalogue of disaster your schooling was. How horrible you had to go through such discomfort and what a tribute to you that you've achieved all you have and at such a young age.
