This is one of the many reasons I let others control the conversation and just chime in on occasion. I have learned from so many failed conversations that a lot of the time people just want to vent and no matter what you say you will just be wrong.
@Sensory0verlord3 ай бұрын
Very true. I try to practice active listening, but I’m not very successful. A friend of mine just asks, “are you venting or do you want solutions?” and I love that.

I've seen your telescope in some of the videos, I geeked out hard on astronomy to the point where I built my own telescope, 10" f 5.4 reflector, it turned out to be a total gallaxy killer, I have light sensitivity issues so I'm able to see things through the scope that some people cannot see, the HorseHead nebula in Orion usually needs a special filter to see it but I have been able to see it many times without one, I have started to suspect I can see in a slightly different light spectrum than the typical person. Love your art work, many years ago I was into water colors, pen and ink, pensil and oils, I always liked doing nature and landscapes, I had unknowingly become the man in the iron mask as a younger man and stopped doing art and other things so as to be "More Normal" , I recently came to the realization that I have ASD and things are finally starting to make sense, I have been rewinding the events of my life to try and figure stuff out, the KZbin videos I have been watching have helped but I feel like I relate to you more than anyone else so far, we seem to have a lot of similarities although I'm more of a Beethoven or classic rock kind of a guy. If I remember correctly you had mentioned sleep routine before, I will listen to a short piece of classical with no lyrics along the lines of Moonlight Sonata just before bed, so if I do wake up to use the bathroom it's to something calming and I'll fall back to sleep to the calming music in my head and wake up to it in the morning, beforehand I would try to go to sleep with some stressful BS stuck in my head and I just did not sleep well at all, now I can usually get a solid 6-7 hours, I also sleep with the window open in the spring, fall and winter, I think the fresh air and sounds of nature help as well, Yea I know you would probably freeze 🥶 but I'm one of those Crazy Yankees that like the cold and hates the heat🥵 Speaking of high jacking a conversation🤣🤣🤣 I better stop here, see you on the next one and thanks for the videos.

I’ve also wondered if I can see in a slightly different light spectrum as well because of my sensitivity to light & ability to see well in the dark. I also like classic rock & classical music. I call symphonic metal “electric classical”. 😆 Apocalyptica has some very beautiful cello arrangements of metal & hard rock. I wish I wasn’t so sensitive to the cold because everywhere I’d love to travel is cold.

Realism is the art I admire the most. The skill to create a realistic looking painting is the best! I love your converse and your Basset hound looks real for sure. Nice one :D I once saw a painting in a London gallery, I wish I could remember who painted it, it was sunlight falling through a tree branch with light green fresh new leaves, from the perspective of lying beneath it. It was incredible, photo realism doesn't do it justice, they'd actually captured the sunlight, the freshness of the leaves, I could almost smell it. I have 2 daughters (single mum) so time and inclination to paint was rare, perhaps now they're grown I'll pick it up again. Oh also, I think people have perceived me as arrogant, though I really am not, and also competitive which again I'm not. Or perhaps I attract those types? Oh who cares anymore, if they don't appreciate who I am and where I'm coming from, or don't care to try, bugger 'em. Who needs them? Hahaa Happy weekend :D
@Sensory0verlord3 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! 😊 The painting you saw sounds beautiful. I really hope you can find the time to paint again soon! And yes- I’ve also wondered if I attract those types. Or if I’m just a canvas on which people paint their own insecurities.

Yes!! I love sharing my passion too & I think sometimes people who don’t feel with the intensity that we do about such things can easily misunderstand us. It also seems like people may project their own insecurities onto us, read subtext that isn’t there (like when I’m simply info dumping), etc. And you are so correct - we should never let that dim our light! ❤️

It's so bizarre when you tell someone that you had a similar experience and you're expecting them to feel really connected to you and instead they get upset. Neurotypical people are BIZARRE.
@Samantha_M.3 ай бұрын
I don't think it's a neurotypical behaviour but rather a cultural thing since I never experienced that in France and this is how people seem to bond around me

It can be disappointing, for sure. And since now I know how it’ll be perceived by that person, I feel pressured to mask by toning down my excitement & trying to adapt to their preferences. 😕

Art is a special interest of mine, though I am nowhere near as good as you are - your work is amazing. I tend to do watercolour a fair amount and these...weird portraits of people, I've been told I have a very unique style. I would love to be able to do realism but I just can't really, lol. I like watercolour because of the layers, its like putting pains of glass over each other in a way. People say its the hardest painting medium, but its the one I feel most connected to. Like you, I have no formal training - just some videos on KZbin in my case. I know what SOME of the brushes are for, but its not that important to me and I often work on quite small paintings so I use a lot of small brushes! Also, crochet - I tend to make a lot of small crocheted bags, but I do hats and gloves and cat mats as well (I made myself some fingerless gloves actually, your wearing them in the video reminded me of them). Another special interest I have is lore, of almost any kind really, even if I'm not that interested in the topic - one thing that's got me at the moment is professional wrestling, even though I don't watch it and think that its a bit silly, the interviews and opinions about it and reviews of shows and stuff is fun to listen to (especially while crocheting!) Film and video games are interests of mine too, often the darker the better as far as video games go and while I do like metal, I don't know much about it really I hope today is a good one for you. :)
@Sensory0verlordАй бұрын
I’ve dabbled in watercolor and find it difficult. I wish it was as forgiving as oil because I love the aesthetic. I also wish I could deviate more from realism & be more stylized & creative sometimes. I started learning crochet when I was a child & still think about picking it back up one day. I’ve tried macrame as well. I don’t know much about professional wrestling, but strangely enough, Seth Rollins is my dream casting for Frankie in the live-action One Piece on Netflix.😆

i am going to type some thoughts as I listen. Same, I don't ever like to be competitive in conversations because, to me those are just so childish conversations to begin with "Oh I win!" What the hell, congratulations you know? .I have recently had about a 4 month conversation going on with a relative, where I just found out the other person was trying to "win" and "teach a lesson" sort of thing. And so now that conversation is over as far as I am concerned. .
@Turtle1967A3 ай бұрын
I can easily imagine all sorts of scenarios where the loss of a dog would be worse than the loss of a relative. I am also thinking you have the natural verbal delivery and timing of a stand up comic and I am wondering if you have ever done any stand up comedy :) Right now I am really interested in trying to understand human behavior.

Oof. That 4 month conversation sounds awful! Must’ve been really frustrating. I’ve never tried doing stand-up comedy.😆 I think I’d freeze or be too easily distracted, especially by lights. It’s easier to appear relaxed on these videos bc when recording, I’m only talking to my phone/myself & in my own environment. Btw if you’re into human behavior, The Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene is an interesting read. Thank you so much! I’m so happy you like the paintings! 😊
@Turtle1967A3 ай бұрын
Yes very frustrating because to me, trying to "win" a conversation is sad in the first place, but it also tends to be a complete waste of time. And to me sadness + loss of time = frustrating absolutely! But lesson learned :) Cool yes well, you have a natural comedic delivery I think and it is still awesome to hear on you tube so thank you :) And I will check out the Laws of Human Nature thank you so much :) I have just read the description and I like the idea about being able to better control our emotional brains (because I think today we may apply emotional ways of thinking to problems that emotional ways of thinking did not evolve to address).Your paintings rock! !:)
